The Municipality of Sogod, Southern Leyte proudly shares that more than 800 registered tricycle drivers have received cash relief assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VIII.
This program, initiated by the national government, is part of its continuing efforts to support our transport sector amidst the challenges brought by the ongoing oil crisis. Our tricycle drivers, who play a vital role in ensuring mobility and accessibility for our communities, are among the hardest hit by rising fuel costs. This assistance is a meaningful step in helping them sustain their livelihood and continue serving the public.
The Local Government Unit of Sogod expresses its deepest gratitude to the DSWD for their unwavering commitment and support. By extending this aid, the national government and DSWD have shown their dedication to uplifting the lives of our hardworking drivers, who are the backbone of local transportation.
Alongside the payout, the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Sogod also conducted an orientation and registration for PhilHealth YAKAP, ensuring that our beneficiaries are not only supported financially but also guided towards accessible healthcare coverage.
This initiative reflects the spirit of bayanihanโworking hand in hand to overcome challenges and ensuring that no sector is left behind. With unity and cooperation, we can rise above the difficulties brought by the oil crisis and build a stronger, more resilient community.
