OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON THE CIRCULATION OF AN UNVERIFIED SOCIAL MEDIA POST

August 24, 2026

Sogod National High School (SNHS) issues this official statement concerning the circulation today of a TikTok post and related messages in class group chats (GCs) that were alleged to be connected to the school and which caused concern and alarm among learners, parents, teachers, school personnel, and members of the community.
The school acknowledges the seriousness of the situation and recognizes the understandable concern generated by the circulation of information pertaining to the safety and security of our learners and personnel.
Upon verification and conduct of fact-finding investigation (FFI), including coordination with the Sogod Municipal Police Station (PNP Sogod), Department of Social Work and Development (DSWD), and the Local Government Unit of Sogod (LGU – Sogod), it was established that the TikTok post in question did not originate from Sogod National High School and has no established connection to the school. Furthermore, it was determined that the social media post originated from Dumaguete, and there was no mention of Sogod National High School in the original TikTok post.
The subsequent association of the post with SNHS appears to have resulted from its circulation and sharing through various class group chats and social media platforms. The school therefore strongly reminds everyone that unverified information, especially information involving threats or matters concerning public safety, should not be disseminated, reposted, or presented as fact without proper verification from competent authorities.
The school appeals to all learners, parents, teachers, personnel, and community members to exercise prudence, responsibility, and vigilance in the use of social media and electronic communication platforms. Any information concerning a possible threat to the safety of learners or school personnel should immediately be reported to the school administration and the appropriate law enforcement authorities, rather than being circulated publicly or through unofficial channels.
Sogod National High School also assures the school community that the administration, in coordination with the Philippine National Police and other concerned authorities, shall continue to maintain and strictly implement appropriate security, safety, monitoring, and emergency response measures within and around the school premises. The school shall remain stringent and proactive in implementing necessary security protocols to safeguard the welfare and security of every learner, teacher, school personnel, parent, and stakeholder.
In view of the verification conducted and the security measures being implemented, classes at Sogod National High School shall resume tomorrow, August 25, 2026. Learners, parents, teachers, and school personnel are advised to remain calm and vigilant and to continue observing all school safety and security protocols.
The school likewise encourages everyone to remain calm but vigilant. Responsible information-sharing is essential in preventing unnecessary fear, misinformation, and public disturbance, while timely reporting through proper channels enables authorities to appropriately assess and respond to genuine security concerns.
Sogod National High School expresses its appreciation to the PNP Sogod, Sogod LGU, DSWD, parents, teachers, learners, and community stakeholders for their cooperation and vigilance during this incident.
The safety and well-being of our learners and the entire school community remain our foremost priority. We reiterate our commitment to maintaining a safe, secure, orderly, and conducive learning environment for all.

The Local Government Unit of Sogod, through the Sogod Rural Health Unit and Birthing Facility, successfully launched the Measles-Rubella and Vitamin A Supplemental Immunization Activity on August 10, 2026, at the Sogod Municipal Gym.

The activity aims to achieve 95% immunization coverage among eligible children aged 6–59 months, helping close population immunity gaps and protect children against Measles, Rubella, and Vitamin A Deficiency. The event brought together children and their parents or guardians, with the support of the Department of Health and its partner offices.

Efficiently managed registration, screening, vaccination procedures, and post-immunization observation to ensure a safe, smooth, and comfortable experience for every family. Provided free administration of life-saving Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccines, along with supplementary health assessments and routine Vitamin A administration for participating children. Promoted strong community involvement by educating parents on vaccine safety, the importance of completing routine immunization schedules, and preventing outbreak risks. Successfully catered to 92 eligible children alongside their parents/guardians during the official launch event.

Through this initiative, the Municipality of Sogod continues to strengthen its commitment to promoting the health, safety, and well-being of children in the community. Together, let us support efforts that keep our children healthy, protected, and given the opportunity to grow and thrive.
