The DILG Sogod officially kicks off the Barangay Development Planning activities for the barangays of Sogod, Southern Leyte.

This initiative aims to guide barangays in reviewing their development priorities, identifying community needs, and crafting updated plans that are responsive, participatory, and aligned with local development goals.

The workshop is conducted in five (5) batches beginning yesterday, August 17, 2026.

Part 2 of the preparations for the upcoming Regional Local Governance Champions in Eastern Visayas (RLGC in EV). This time solid waste management facilities of the LGU and barangays were inspected.

GEARING UP FOR RLGC in EV 2026 | August 4, 2026

Atty. Maria Fiona D. Merquita conducts Pre-RLGC Ocular Inspections on key facilities to ensure their operational conditions. Among the facilities inspected were the financial disclosure policy boards, public toilets, PWD lift, Emergency Operations Center, Teen Center, and other health facilities. The MLGOO also conducted Preliminary Assessment on the documentary compliance for the Health Compliance and Responsiveness Governance Area.

This is in line with the upcoming Regional Local Governance Champions in Eastern Visayas (RLGC in EV), a region-wide equivalent of the nationwide Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG). The LGU is set to be assessed this August 14.

Atty. Maria Fiona D. Merquita, MLGOO of Sogod, served as one of the guests during the Katatagan, Kalusugan, at Damayan sa Komunidad (KKDK) Graduation Ceremony held today at the Sogod District Jail, Brgy. Hibod-hibod, Sogod, Southern Leyte.

The KKDK Program is a pyscho-educational drug intervention program designed to help Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs), particularly Persons Who Use Drugs (PWUDs), develop positive behavioral changes, strengthen family relationships, and prepare for successful reintegration into society.
