For two decades, the promise of owning the land she tills lived quietly in the heart of Jonafe Labastida, 45, of Soro-Soro, Maasin.
Years passed. Seasons changed. Crops were planted and harvested. Yet the dream remained the same: one day, the land would finally carry her name.
That day has come.
Through the Support to Parcelization of Lands for Individual Titling (SPLIT), Jonafe received her individual land titleโgranted without cost, secured after a wait that spanned twenty years.
For Jonafe, the document is more than a legal paper. It is affirmation, security, and victory earned through patience.
She describes the moment simply: a dream fulfilled.
With the title now in her hands, her plans are already taking root. She intends to diversify her farm and plant more crops, particularly coconut trees, believing these will help build a more stable tomorrow for her family.
But her vision reaches beyond todayโs harvest.
Jonafe sees the land as a legacyโsomething her children will inherit, nurture, and depend on long after her. Ownership means they will have a stronger foundation, more opportunities, and a future anchored on something truly theirs.
After twenty years of waiting, the soil she has long cultivated now bears the certainty of permanence.
And for Jonafe, that certainty changes everything.

The Program Behind the Promise
Jonafeโs story is one of thousands being realized through the SPLIT Project of the Department of Agrarian Reform. The initiative parcels collectively awarded lands into individual titles, strengthening tenure security for agrarian reform beneficiaries and empowering them to make long-term investments on their farms.
Implemented with the support of partner institutions such as the Land Registration Authority and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the project accelerates subdivision surveys, documentation, and registration so that farmers can finally hold titles in their own names.
More than paperwork, each title represents stability, opportunity, and a legacyโvalues that now live in Jonafeโs hands, and soon, in the future of her children.
