𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗡𝘂𝗲𝘃𝗮 𝗩𝗶𝘇𝗰𝗮𝘆𝗮’𝘀 𝗕𝗮𝗵𝗮𝘆 𝗣𝗮𝗴-𝗮𝘀𝗮 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻?

Five years. Three governors. One project.

From former 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗥. 𝗣𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮, who envisioned a dedicated rehabilitation center for children in conflict with the law, to the late 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗼𝘀 𝗠. 𝗣𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮, under whose administration funding and construction began, to 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗲 “𝗝𝗶𝗻𝗴” 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗼, under whose administration the facility is nearing completion—the story of 𝗕𝗮𝗵𝗮𝘆 𝗣𝗮𝗴-𝗮𝘀𝗮 spans three administrations.

The idea was to give children more than a separate place to stay. It was to create an environment where they could receive guidance, continue their education, undergo rehabilitation, and have a real chance to return to their families and communities as responsible and productive citizens.

𝙍𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙖𝙜 𝘾𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙨 traces how that vision became a ₱43.5-million provincial project—and where it stands today.

𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝗽 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱.

Education is at its best when it’s hands-on. Last week, as Chair of the Provincial Tourism Council, I facilitated a strategic dialogue between the Nueva Vizcaya Farm Tourism Association and the leadership of Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) to build a real-world pipeline for our students.

We’re moving beyond theory. This partnership focuses on research and on-the-job training for Agriculture and Forestry students within our local accredited farms. Our mission is 𝙩𝙤 𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙖 𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙪𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙭𝙩 𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙬𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙚 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙛𝙖𝙧𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙡, 𝙝𝙞𝙜𝙝-𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙩 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙧 𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙝.

Alongside fellow farm owner Cicero "Og" Bautista, I sat down with a dedicated team at NVSU to align on this vision:

Dr. Arvin Vallesteros, Campus Administrator (Bayombong)
Dr. Jayson Caranza, Dean of the College of Forestry, Environment, and Resources Management
Dr. Rhea Adriatico, Dean of the College of Human Ecology
Dr. Shierel Vallesteros, Department Chair of Graduate Studies
Mr. Ronald Gapuz, representing Dean Aldwin Pablo of the College of Agriculture

We wrapped up the day at the university’s Katmon Orchard, which we featured sometime in July, a native fruit project led by Dr. Shierel Vallesteros. The Katmon (Dillenia philippinensis) is endemic to our country and is even featured on the 25-centavo coin, serving as a powerful symbol of our local biodiversity.

"𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱." (𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘄 𝟭𝟰:𝟮𝟬) ✨

This Sunday, August 2, we celebrate the 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time. In the Gospel (Matthew 14:13–21), Jesus takes five loaves and two fish, blesses them, and feeds over five thousand people with plenty left over.

This powerful miracle reminds us that:

1. God’s abundance is limitless. When we feel we don't have enough time, energy, or resources, God can multiply our small efforts.

2. We are called to share. Jesus asked His disciples to give what they had. When we offer what we have to others, miracles happen.

3. It prefigures the Eucharist. Just as Jesus broke the bread for the crowds, He offers Himself to feed our spiritual hunger today.

Let us bring our "five loaves and two fish"—our humble talents and daily struggles—to the Lord this Sunday and trust Him to provide. 🙏

Kumusta ti Sabado tayo, kakabsat?

Yesterday, the Sierra Madre Lions Club gathered for our monthly meeting, led by our dedicated President, Samuel Tumolva. It was the perfect blend of fellowship, community planning, and pure celebration!

Beyond discussing our upcoming service projects, we shared a wonderful reunion catching up with fellow members. We also turned up the celebration to honor our amazing July birthday celebrators! 🎉

Wishing our birthday Lions another year of strength, health, and impactful service. Thank you to everyone who attended and made the evening so special!

Naimbag a Biernes, kakabsat! TGIF!

On Thursday, July 30, I had the privilege of joining colleagues and local stakeholders for the Executive Meeting of the Provincial Development Council as chairperson of the Social Development Committee.

Our conversations focused on the critical building blocks of our future: expanding opportunity, strengthening our social safety nets, and ensuring that the growth we build in Nueva Vizcaya is growth that everyone can share in.

There is still a lot of work ahead, but when you see people from different sectors coming to the table with a shared sense of purpose, you can’t help but feel hopeful about what’s next.

Let's keep moving forward, Nueva Vizcaya! Agbiag!

Happy and wonderful Thursday, kakabsat!

Yesterday, July 29, Sierra Madre Court #43 actively participated in the Serbisyo Caravan organized by the Provincial Government at the Brgy. Calitlitan Covered Court, Aritao.

Our team successfully conducted free blood pressure monitoring and diabetic screenings for the residents. The event was highly supported by the presence of Provincial Warden Ret. Col. Carmelo Andrada, alongside other vital provincial offices, most notably the Provincial Integrated Health Office (PIHO).

Bringing essential healthcare directly to our barangays is a cause deeply close to my heart. Thank you to everyone who collaborated to make today's mission a resounding success.

Agpaay. Agserserbi. Agnanayon.

Agbiag, Nueva Vizcaya!

Naimbag a Miyerkules, kakabsat! It’s a rainy mid-week!

Look out at the horizon, and you are reminded that our current struggles are just a single chapter in a much longer journey.

Pero sabi nga nila, “Progess has never been a straight line.” It twists, it turns, and it requires us to meet grand visions with practical, everyday steps. To make it through the week without losing heart:

1. Focus on what you can do today: Don't worry about the whole mountain. Just take one small step at a time, and those small steps will add up to big changes.
2. Change the plan, not the goal: When life throws a curveball at work or school, try a different way around it. Never give up on what you want to achieve.
3. Lean on each other: No one can carry the weight of the world alone. We get through hard times by looking out for one another.

The future rewards those who press on. I don't have time to feel sorry for myself. I don't have time to complain. I'm going to press on." — Barack Obama

No matter how heavy the burdens get this week, lift your gaze, remember your worth. Keep pressing forward. Kaya natin ‘to basta’t ‘wag bibitaw.

Agbiag!
