A clinical trial led by Emory University and Grady Health System shows that Lenacapavir, an injectable administered twice yearly, reduces HIV infection risk by 96%, offering a promising alternative to daily oral pills like Truvada.

With a 99% success rate in preventing HIV among trial participants, Lenacapavir addresses adherence issues faced with daily medications. The study included diverse participants from regions significantly affected by HIV, such as the U.S., South America, Africa, and Asia.

The Phase III trial data has been submitted to the FDA, with expectations that Lenacapavir could be commercially available by 2025, marking a pivotal step toward eradicating HIV.
