Sorsogon City Water District (SCWD) is a Government-Owned & Controlled Corporation created under Presidential Decree No. 198 (Provincial Water Utilities Act of 1973). SCWD was established in February 14, 1975 after it was issued a Conditional Certificate of Conformance by the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) and has since then provided for the water supply of the Municipality of Sorsogo

n and later City of Sorsogon with the merging of the municipalities of Sorsogon and Bacon in 2001. In June 2, 2016, SCWD entered into a Joint Venture Agreement with PrimeWater Infrastructure Corp. for the operation and maintenance of the SCWD water and wastewater system, which formally commenced on October 17, 2016. Saturday, 5 September 2026 --- In recognition of the support, generosity and contribution to the education and development of the learners of Basud Elementary School (Basud ES), the Sorsogon City Water District was awardeed as one of its 'Bayani ng Edukasyon' for 2026.

The award was received by SCWD - represented by Construction and Maintenance Division Manager Engr. Alejandro L. Alama and Acting Administrative Services Division Manager Annabelle V. Ancheta - from School Principal Rowan L. Celestra and officers of the Parent-Teachers Association (PTA) and School Governance Council (SGC), during the BLOOM Day cm 107th Foundation Anniversary at 6:30 p.m today, 5 September 2026, at the school covered court, Brgy. Basud, Sorsogon City.

Established in 1919, Basud ES is one of the oldest primary schools in Sorsogon and had been SCWD's partner for its regular Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Gender and Development (GAD) programs, such as assistance to the annual 'Brigada Eskwela.'

Friday, 4 September 2026 --- Sorsogon City Water District staff joined fellow public servants with puso, dangal at galing in the Province of Sorsogon during today's provincial kick-off ceremony of the 126th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary at Gubat, Sorsogon, starting at 5:30 a.m.

Today's activities included a warm-up zumba at the Encinas Pavilion; an estimated three-kilometer fun run/ walk from the Encinas Pavilion to the Buenavista Tourism Hub; and a thanksgiving mass and program proper at the Buenavista Tourism Hub, where Gubat Municipal Mayor Ronnel U. Lim and Civil Service Commission Sorsogon Field Office Director II Jocelyn L. Marifosque delivered meaningful and inspiring messages to the participants.

SCWD Acting Administrative Services Division Manager Annabelle V. Ancheta also joined various agency heads/ representatives in writing their commitments to public service, via the CSC Commitment Wall. With here were SCWD division managers Ma. Katherine V. Deblois and Engr. Alejandro L. Alama; officers Elaine Leith S. Olea, Riza A. de Jesus and Renee Rose T. Anagon; and rank-and-file staff Charmaine M. Hilis RMT, Pablo L. Gutierrez and Armando J.
