TALAONA NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL โ€“ Students and community partners joined forces for Project COAST: Community Action for Ocean Preservation and Student Stewardship at the coastal area of Barangay San Bartolome, Sta. Magdalena, Sorsogon on September 18.

A total of 81 volunteers took part in the activity.

Participants included YES-O officers, Senior Scouts, Grade 12 volunteers, and Grade 7 students. The program began at 7:00 AM.

Volunteers collected marine debris and plastic wastes along the shoreline. Proper waste segregation was strictly observed throughout the clean-up drive.

Project COAST was led by Sherwin R. Fuentes, with Ariel De La Rosa serving as co-proponent.

The initiative also gained support from the Barangay Local Government Unit of San Bartolome, 4Ps, and the Bureau of Fire Protection.

Conducted in observance of the International Coastal Clean-Up Drive 2026, the effort brought together school and community toward a cleaner and safer marine environment.

With the theme "Honoring Teachers, Building Brighter Tomorrows", Talaonga National High School (TNHS) Faculty and Staff joined educators from across the municipality in celebrating the Municipal Teachers' Day celebration on September 12, at Beata Beach Resort in San Sebastian.

Spearheaded by the Department of Education Schools Division of Sorsogon โ€“ Sta. Magdalena District, the full-day event kicked off with a Eucharistic Celebration at St. Mary Magdalene Parish, followed by a motorcade moving toward the venue.

The opening program featured inspirational messages and key addresses, including a welcome address by SMNHS Principal III Johnberk B. Evasco, a message from Municipal Mayor Mark Jewery G. Lozano, and words of inspiration from Lhean E. Cicaro, Top 1 Most Outstanding Teacher at the district level.

The celebration also highlighted the distribution of Loyalty Awards, Recognition, and Most Outstanding Teacher Awards, with Talaonga National High School's very own Teacher III Jacel Gaon bagging the 4th Place award in the Most Outstanding Teacher category.

Remarks from OIC-PSDS/Principal IV Grace Imelda G. Huab further added prestige to the awarding ceremonies.

Educators enjoyed a packed afternoon lineup featuring recreational activities facilitated by Edward J. Eupeรฑa, fellowship lunch, a raffle draw, teachers' day perks, and special recognition of sponsors to close out the district-wide tribute.

TALAONGA NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL โ€” Teachers completed a two-day In-Service Training (INSET) here on September 10โ€“11, strengthening their skills in pedagogy, inclusive education, technology integration, action research, and professional leadership.

The training opened September 10 with remarks from Master Teacher I Santiago Niemo.

Division Monitoring Personnel and HTRD Coordinator Arvin E. Esmeรฑa, MT-II, graced the occasion, joining educators in sessions focused on pedagogical mastery, ICT integration, and Special Needs Education (SNED).

Erol John E. Arellano served as the morning resource speaker, while Jacel N. Gaon anchored the afternoon discussions centered on DepEd Order No. 44, s. 2021.

On Day 2, Public Schools District Supervisor Grace Imelda Huab visited the venue to deliver an inspirational message and encourage the participants.
Ramon Frejas led the morning session, followed by Kevin Estrelon, who facilitated the afternoon discussion on Action Research and instructional leadership.

Program flow was smoothly managed by emcee Rovil Dorado.

The training concluded with the awarding of certificates to participants and resource speakers, followed by closing remarks from Senior High School Coordinator Roderick Frayres.

Through the two-day capacity-building, TNHS teachers renewed their commitment to evidence-based practice, inclusive instruction, and ethical leadership, carrying new insights and shared purpose back to their classrooms.

Talaonga National High School (TNHS) punched its ticket to the 2026 Provincial Meet after its athletes battled through the Zonal Meet held in Bulan, Sorsogon, on September 7-8.

TNHS athletes secured spots in the upcoming provincial competition after delivering a strong performances across basketball, table tennis, badminton and athletics, carrying the school's banner for the next level of competition.

The Girls' Basketball 5-on-5 team, coached by Ma'am Melanie Erlano, clinched a provincial berth after overcoming their opponents with teamwork, composure and relentless court pressure.

In badminton, coached by Ma'am Christine Furio, Jake G. Fuentes secured silver medal, earning a ticket for the Provincial Meet after displaying consistency, and competitive poise throughout the tournament.

Meanwhile, TNHS sent four table tennis players, coached by Sir Mark Ryan Bancual, to the provincial stage, with Yu Wan Guetan rulling the Boys' Singles, Joshua Dela Rosa and Christian James Guatno for Boys' Doubles, and Harsha Fresnido topping the Girls' Singles, securing gold medals and their respective qualifying spots.

The boys' athletics squad, coached by Sir Benjamin Bantogon, also harvested medals and provincial berths, highlighted by multiple podium finishes. Samuel Formentera seized the gold medal in the Walkathon 2km, while Aldrin Fugen captured silver in both the High Jump and Long Jump, along with a bronze in the Triple Jump.

Likewise, the athletics girls' team, coached by Ma'am Ma. Odezza Borras, with Princess Fortin stormed the podium, claiming gold in the Walkathon 2km, silver in the 3km Run, and bronze in the 800-meter Run.

With their performances in Bulan, the qualifiers now turn their sights toward the 2026 Provincial Meet, where they will represent TNHS against athletes from across Sorsogon.
