Sorsogon province welcomes CatSu Flood Resilience Team
The Sorsogon Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (SPDRRMC) warmly welcomed the delegation from Catanduanes State University CatSU) during its 2nd Quarter Regular Meeting.
Led by Dr. Jose Z. Tria, the CatSU team presented "A Multi-faceted Approach to Enhancing Flood Resilience in the Bicol Region: From Baseline Assessment to Strategic Framework Development" and introduced the Bicol RISER (Regional Innovation and Sustainability Empowerment for Resilience) Consortium, highlighting the role of research, innovation, and collaboration in building resilient communities.
During the discussion, Engr. Raden Dimaano, head of the Sorsogon Provincial DRRM Office, shared the Province's best practices in disaster risk reduction and management, emphasizing Sorsogon's commitment to becoming a data-driven and innovation-focused province through the use of geospatial information, early warning systems, and community-based monitoring.
The engagement reaffirmed the shared commitment of government and academic institutions to strengthen disaster resilience, promote evidence-based decision-making, and develop sustainable solutions for communities across the Bicol Region.
