𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: The Coast Guard District Southern Mindanao (CGDSM), together with its operational control units, participated in the first-ever Dive SOX Philippines SEAmposium Awarding Ceremony held at Greenleaf Hotel Gensan on May 27, 2026.

The event recognized the collective efforts of government agencies, environmental advocates, diving organizations, and community partners in advancing marine conservation, sustainable tourism, and responsible diving practices across the SOCCSKSARGEN Region, particularly during the Dive SOX Ocean Month Celebration.

These collaborative initiatives led to the collection of 11 tons of residual waste and 156 kilograms of biodegradable waste from the coastal areas of Kalepa, General Santos City, and Maasim, Sarangani Province. Additionally, 100 mangrove propagules were planted in Lebak to support coastal rehabilitation and environmental sustainability.

During the ceremony, CGDSM was recognized for its active participation in these initiatives, reflecting its commitment to marine environmental protection and support for the intensified Community Assistance Awareness Response and Enforcement (iCARE) program of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

CGDSM also conducted a static display showcasing its operational capabilities, marine environmental protection efforts, rescue equipment, and information materials promoting maritime safety and environmental awareness.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞: Personnel of the 𝘊𝘰𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘎𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘕𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘚𝘶𝘣-𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘵 – 𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘯 𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘰, proudly joined the Philippine Coast Guard’s simultaneous oath-taking and signing of the Affidavit of Undertaking for the Non-Use of Dangerous Drugs under the PCG Zero Drug Tolerance Policy 2026, held at the HCGDSM Makar Wharf, Barangay Labangal, General Santos City on May 25, 2026.

The ceremony was presided over by ADM RONNIE L GAVAN PCG, Commandant of the Philippine Coast Guard, and was attended simultaneously by all Coast Guard units nationwide, signifying the organization’s collective commitment to a disciplined, responsible, and drug-free service.

This activity reflects the organization’s unwavering dedication to professionalism, accountability, and maintaining a drug-free workplace in the pursuit of safe, effective, and trustworthy public service for the Filipino people.

𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐂𝐇: The Coast Guard District Southern Mindanao (CGDSM), together with its Operational Control Units successfully conducted the Dive SOX Philippines Exploratory Dive Assessment at selected dive sites in Kiamba, Sarangani Province in observance of Ocean Month from May 21 to 22, 2026.
Kiamba once again showcased the beauty and potential of its rich marine biodiversity as the Department of Tourism - Soccsksargen Office, in partnership with the Philippine Technical Divers, Sarangani Bay Protected Seascape, and this District, carried out the activity.
This undertaking highlighted Kiamba’s vibrant underwater treasures while gathering valuable data and references essential for the future development, conservation, and promotion of potential dive destinations in the area.
Through this collaborative initiative, participating agencies and organizations continue to strengthen marine conservation efforts, promote sustainable tourism, and position Kiamba as an emerging premier dive destination in the SOCCSKSARGEN Region.

𝑰𝑵 𝑷𝑯𝑶𝑻𝑶𝑺: The 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗚𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗡𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼 (𝗖𝗚𝗡𝗦-𝗦𝗠) was invited from the Goldenstate College Midwifery Department for the conduct of Five (5) Days Basic Life Support (BLS) and Standard First Aid (SFA) Training last 18-22 May 2026 at Goldenstate Maternity Clinic, Saging St., General Santos City.

A total of twenty-eight (28) of Midwifery Students from Goldenstate College were successfully equipped with the essential knowledge, skills, and confidence required to respond effectively to life-threatening emergencies.

Through comprehensive training, these students are now better prepared to deliver immediate care and provide critical support during emergencies, ensuring a higher standard of safety and well-being in their future roles as healthcare providers.

This initiative underscores the importance of empowering students with the practical competencies needed to save lives and make a meaningful impact in their communities.

𝐈𝐂𝐘𝐌𝐈: On May 22, 2026, the 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐍𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐨 (𝐂𝐆𝐍𝐒𝐒𝐔-𝐒𝐌) successfully conducted a Basic Life Support Orientation for selected Community Tour Guides at ICON Venue and Suites, General Santos City.

Conducted in support of the 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐝’𝐬 𝐢𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐄 Program, the activity highlighted the importance of emergency preparedness, lifesaving competence, and collaboration in promoting safer and healthier communities. Participants were equipped with essential knowledge and practical skills in Hands-Only CPR and emergency response through interactive lectures, live demonstrations, and hands-on training exercises.

Coast Guard Nursing Service personnel facilitated the activity, guiding participants in practicing proper CPR techniques and emphasizing the importance of immediate action during life-threatening situations.
