⚓ Bringing newly developed skills to Sea – All Aboard HMAS Choules 🌊

Our newest Marine Technician sailors have joined the HMAS Choules engineering department, taking their first steps in consolidating their training at sea.

“I joined the Navy from Sydney wanting to earn a trade, what I didn’t expect the places I would go and the great mates I would make along the way” - SMNMT Ravitu

From getting hands on with equipment, to watchkeeping in a live maritime setting, every moment at sea builds the competence and resilience required of today’s technical rated sailors.

Working alongside the ship’s company, they’re applying their skills and working towards their technical qualifications to keep their ship ready for the fight.

BZ Stokers, we can’t wait to watch your technical expertise and confidence grow in the coming months!

⚓ Training the way we fight – HMAS Choules & Supply – interoperable and ready ⚓

HMAS Choules has recently completed a series of evolutions in concert with HMAS Supply, showcasing the strength and precision of Royal Australian Navy operations at sea. Activities included Replenishment at Sea Approaches (RASAPs), flying operations, and man overboard exercises. This requires the highest levels of coordination, discipline, and professionalism among the respective crews.

‘Training the way we fight’ remains a core mindset across the fleet, these exercises highlight the value of RAN ships steaming in company, strengthening interoperability and demonstrating our ability to sustain complex maritime operations whenever and wherever required. 🌊

HMAS Choules congratulates our Command Warrant Officer Phillip John Durnan as we celebrate his last night at sea after 40+ years of service! 🎉🎉🎉

Warrant Officer Durnan joined Choules' family on the first of July 2024, and has since made many memories whilst onboard. Some of his Choules journeys in which he displayed pride, passion and professionalism include port visits to Samoa, Fiji, Papua New Guinea; travelling through intense sea states; being a parental figurehead to many Gap Year personnel; and of course, many promotions, anniversaries and birthdays! 😍

On behalf of the Commanding Officer and the ship's company of Choules, we thank you for your dedication through your service. We wish you all the best in your future endeavours! 🍰
