READ | Strengthening Multi-Sectoral Action for Cervical Cancer Prevention, Early Detection, and Access to Care

In observance of Cervical Cancer Consciousness Month this May, the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) calls for stronger awareness, sustained prevention efforts, and improved access to HPV vaccination, screening, and timely treatment for all women and girls.

Cervical cancer remains preventable and treatable when detected early, but many women still face barriers such as limited information, high screening costs, and unequal access to services, especially in underserved communities.

PCW Chairperson Ermelita Valdeavilla stressed that eliminating cervical cancer requires sustained multi-sectoral action and equitable healthcare access.

“Cervical cancer is preventable, detectable, and treatable. Our priority is to ensure that every Filipina has equitable access to accurate information, preventive services, and timely care. No woman should be left behind in our efforts to eliminate this disease,” Chairperson Valdeavilla said.

She added that awareness must be matched with accessible services, stronger health systems, and sustained investment in preventive care.

Every day, solo parents in government rise to the challenge—balancing care for their families with service to the nation. The Civil Service Commission stands with you—ensuring that you are supported, valued, and empowered every step of the way.

📌 Qualified solo parent government workers are entitled to seven (7) days of parental leave with pay each year, along with access to additional benefits and flexible work arrangements—so you can care for your family while continuing to excel in public service.

For government personnel, guidelines on parental leave are provided under CSC Memorandum Circular No. 8, s. 2004:

At the CSC, we believe that a truly strong civil service is one that uplifts its people—creating workplaces where compassion, balance, and family well-being thrive.

Sa bawat sakripisyo at tagumpay ng solo parents, tunay na naipapakita ang Puso, Dangal, at Galing ng mga Lingkod Bayani. 💙
