Sa araw na ito, ating ipinagdiriwang ang sipag, tiyaga, at dedikasyon ng bawat manggagawa. Kayo ang pundasyon ng ating ekonomiya at ang lakas na nagtutulak sa ating bayan tungo sa pag-unlad.

Mula sa aming opisina (Sulat-MENRO), naniniwala tayo na ang bawat isa ay karapat-dapat sa disenteng trabaho, sapat na sahod, at marangal na buhay. Ito ang ating iisang hangarin at layunin na sa pamamagitan ng pagtutulungan, makakamit natin ang isang Bagong Pilipinas na maunlad, matatag, at puno ng pag-asa para sa lahat.

We would like to inform everyone that our regularly scheduled residual waste collection will be adjusted this week. Due to the upcoming observance of Maundy Thursday, waste collection services will take place on Wednesday instead of the usual schedule.

Please make sure to have your properly segregated residual waste ready for pick-up on the designated day to ensure smooth and efficient collection. Let us all do our part in keeping our community clean and orderly, even as we observe important holidays.

It's a Working Sunday!

A special meeting was held for Bantay Dagat and Bantay Kalikasan members to discuss a new organizational structure, along with detailed plans and strategies. The conversation emphasized commitment to protecting both the environment and those who safeguard it, covering areas from mountain ridges to coral reefs.

Previously, Bantay Kalikasan focused on terrestrial conservation while Bantay Dagat handled marine protection. The two groups will now be unified as Tanod ng Kalikasan, reflecting a holistic approach that recognizes the interconnectedness of land and water systems.

The meeting was convened under the clear direction and vision of our local chief executive, Hon. Mayor Javier E. Zacate, who emphasized the critical role that unified action plays in addressing the environmental challenges and opportunities facing our community. In attendance were Hon. Sofia Isabelle Zacate, SB Chairman of the Committee on Environment; Municipal Administrator John Cortez; MENRO Designate Annaviv Z. Limbo; Tourism Designate Rowelynn Lazarra; John Andrew Lobina; and Hon. Ronald Jardio. All active members of the former Bantay Dagat and Bantay Kalikasan teams were present to participate in the planning, ask questions, and align their personal commitments with the broader goals of the newly formed "Tanod ng Kalikasan."

What an amazing day to feel hopeful and grateful!

The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office successfully held the second day of activities for the World Wetland Day Celebration. The event centered on the theme Preserving our Wetlands: Mangrove Tree Planting and IEC on Wetland Protection, and Advanced Documentation Training for our Environmental Enforcers (Bantay Dagat and Bantay Kalikasan).

The Tree Planting program took place at Brgy. Sto. Niño Sulat, with the active support of the barangay officials. A total of 321 Talisay seedlings were planted along the beach forest.

The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) is spearheading a 2-day World Wetland Day Celebration centered on the theme "Preserving our Wetlands: Mangrove Tree Planting and IEC on Wetland Protection and Advanced Documentation Training". The activity, held on February 26-27, 2026, is designed for our environmental enforcers - Bantay Dagat and Bantay Kalikasan teams.

DAY 1: EMPOWERING ENFORCERS THROUGH Knowledge - The first day proved to be highly successful, bringing together key stakeholders to advanced wetland conservation efforts in Sulat.

Mr. Usbaldo Cortez the municipal administrator deliver the welcome address on behalf of Hon. Mayor Javier E. Zacate , setting the tone for meaningful collaboration. Next, EMS II/MENRO Designate Annaviv Zacate-Limbo led a discussion on "Wetland Traditional Knowledge: Celebrating Cultural Heritage", highlighting the deep connection between local Communities and these vital ecosystems. ILT Oscar B. Peralta attended the event, shared a message of unwavering support and commitment, and guided a lively discussion with active participation from all attendees. Municipal Agriculturist Marcial Mercadal also expressed his backing, emphasizing the significant role wetland areas play in the municipality's agricultural and ecological landscape. John Andrew L. Lobina presented an overview of Philippine environmental laws and explained them, with a special focus on regulations specific to Sulat. Mr. Brando Rama Monderin then covered Evidence-Based Enforcement, detailing best practices for recording observations, GPS tagging, and proper documentation procedures. DILG Officer Maria Lynar A. Medina underscored the activity's importance and urged for the program to be expanded to all barangays across the municipality to maximize environmental impact.

The day concluded with the election of Officers for Bantay Dagat and Bantay Kalikasan teams, the formal adoptation of their Constitution and By-Laws (effective immediately), and an oath-taking ceremony administered by Miss Annaviv Z. Limbo. The session wrapped up with group photo opportunities. Tomorrow, February 27, the celebration will continue with mangrove tree planting activity at Brgy. Sto. Niño, Sulat - a hands-on step towards restoring and protecting local wetland habitats.

World Wetlands Day 2026 explores the deep-rooted connections between wetlands and cultural practices, traditions, and knowledge systems of communities across the world.
