PNP PRESS STATEMENT
Clarification on Removal of Politically Branded Signages

The Philippine National Police (PNP) clarifies that its directive on the prohibition and removal of politically branded signages refers specifically to materials displayed within PNP properties and premises, including police stations, camps, offices, and other PNP facilities nationwide.

This is in compliance with DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2026-006 and reinforced by a PNP memorandum dated February 2, 2026, which directs all units to remove signages, tarpaulins, markers, posters, and similar materials bearing the name, image, initials, color motif, slogan, or identifying symbols of public officials, particularly those linked to government-funded projects, programs, and activities.

The PNP reiterates that the directive aims to uphold political neutrality, professionalism, and the principle that public service must remain free from personal or partisan promotion, in line with the thrust of a Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman.

Ayon kay PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., “Police presence matters most when people are facing critical situations.

“Our duty includes responding to emergencies that affect the safety and well-being of the public.”

PNP ARRESTS SUSPECT IN ROBBERY TARGETING JAPANESE TOURIST

A Japanese visitor to the Philippines was robbed just a day after arriving—but swift police action ensured justice was quickly served. Under the leadership of PNP Acting Chief PLTGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., the San Dionisio Police Sub-Station successfully arrested a 49-year-old male suspect in a Parañaque subdivision following a robbery incident along CAVITEX Access Road in Barangay San Dionisio on the morning of January 24, 2026.

The victim who arrived at a hotel in Pasay City on January 23, 2026, was robbed of key belongings, including a smartphone, cash, passport, and other valuables. Police operatives traced the suspect using CCTV footage, coupled with continuous monitoring and follow-up operations, which led to a hot-pursuit operation. At around 6:30 AM on January 26, authorities located the suspect and recovered all stolen items, ensuring the victim’s property was fully returned.

“Crime perpetrated against local residents and foreign visitors will not be tolerated. We are here to safeguard everyone’s safety,” PLTGEN Nartatez Jr. said.

Following identification by the victim at the hospital, a complaint for violation of Article 294 of the Revised Penal Code (Robbery with Violence Against or Intimidation) is being prepared for filing through inquest proceedings at the Parañaque City Prosecutor’s Office.

This accomplishment reflects the PNP’s commitment to the PNP Focused Agenda—a comprehensive transformation plan designed to make police service more accessible and citizen-centered. Among its key priorities, Enhanced Managing Police Operations played a crucial role in the coordinated and timely actions that led to the suspect’s arrest and recovery of stolen property.

“Our police force is committed to upholding the law and ensuring peace in all communities,” PLTGEN Nartatez Jr. added.

As the PNP continues to respond decisively to criminal acts under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., the organization assures the public of its vision: PNP’s “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong mabilis, tapat, at nararamdaman.”
