𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐩, 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐧 – 𝟐𝟗 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 –Demonstrating its steadfast commitment to peacebuilding, community engagement, and strengthened partnership with religious leaders, the 32nd Infantry (DAREDEVIL) Battalion participated in a solemn prayer gathering with the Ulama Council held at the Grand Mosque in Barangay Buli-Buli, Sumisip, Basilan Province.

Under the leadership of LTC GERWIN T MAGHUYOP INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of the 32nd Infantry Battalion, together with CPT ARNEL J SILANOS (INF) PA, Civil-Military Operations (CMO) Officer, the Battalion joined the religious gathering aimed at fostering unity, spiritual solidarity, and collaborative peace efforts among leaders and stakeholders in Basilan.

The prayer gathering convened respected members of the Ulama Council of Isabela City, local government officials, community leaders, and residents in a meaningful expression of faith and collective responsibility toward sustaining peace, mutual understanding, and social cohesion within the province. Present during the activity were Hon. Mujiv S. Hataman, Governor of Basilan, and Hon. Gulam “Boy” Hataman, Vice Mayor of Sumisip, alongside other local stakeholders.

The activity served as an important avenue for strengthening relationships between government institutions, religious leaders, and local communities, reinforcing shared aspirations for peace, stability, and development in Basilan. 𝐋𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐧 – 𝟐𝟖 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 – The 32nd Infantry (DAREDEVIL) Battalion, under the leadership of LTC GERWIN T MAGHUYOP INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, together with CPT ARNEL J SILANOS (INF) PA, Commanding Officer of Delta Company and Civil-Military Operations (CMO) Officer of this unit, participated in the “Pag Duwaa Salamat” hosted by Hon. Hadji Samad Ahaddin, newly appointed City Councilor of Lamitan City.

The activity gathered key leaders and stakeholders from the government sector, security forces, religious groups, and local communities, symbolizing unity, cooperation, and a shared commitment toward peace and sustainable development in Basilan Province.

Present during the activity were BGEN FREDERICK M SALES PA, Commander of the 1101st Infantry Brigade; Mr. Al-Rasheed M Sakalahul of the Council of Elders; Mr. Muhti Abdulla of NP; Mr. Juni Ilimin of BPC; Mr. Argie Sarco, Provincial Director of MTIT; Hadji Amir Mingkon, M**F Commander; Mr. Bayan Hasan from the Madaris sector; PSSg Sonny D Kalinggalan of JPST AKALUN; Hon. Abdulmubin Dalun, ABC President of Tipo-Tipo; and Mr. Domingo Lardizabal of MBHTE.
Held in Lamitan City, the gathering served as an avenue to strengthen camaraderie and foster collaboration among peace partners, community leaders, and government agencies in sustaining peace, security, and progress in Basilan.

The participation of the 32IB highlights the unit’s continuing commitment to building strong partnerships with local leaders and stakeholders in support of inclusive governance, conflict resolution, and community empowerment.

𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐏, 𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐀𝐍 | 𝟐𝟖 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 – Demonstrating steadfast leadership and unwavering commitment to troop welfare and mission accomplishment, the 32nd Infantry (DAREDEVIL) Battalion, 11th Infantry (ALAKDAN) Division, Philippine Army, under the leadership of LTC GERWIN T MAGHUYOP INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, together with CPT ARNEL J SILANOS (INF) PA, Acting Commanding Officer of Delta Company, conducted a series of patrol base visitations across the municipalities of Ungkaya Pukan, Tipo-Tipo, and Lantawan, Basilan.

The visitation was undertaken to assess the operational readiness, security posture, and overall welfare of troops deployed in various patrol bases under the battalion’s administrative control within its Area of Operations (AO). The activity likewise served as a command presence initiative aimed at reinforcing leadership engagement with personnel stationed in geographically isolated and operationally sensitive areas.

During the visitation, LTC MAGHUYOP personally interacted with the troops and rendered command guidance intended to strengthen mission effectiveness, operational efficiency, and battlefield preparedness. He underscored the significance of sustained vigilance, discipline, and professionalism in the performance of duties while emphasizing the importance of maintaining harmonious collaboration with local communities as partners in preserving peace and stability in Basilan Province.

Meanwhile, CPT SILANOS assured the deployed personnel of the continued support of the unit leadership in addressing operational and logistical concerns to ensure sustained effectiveness in the conduct of security operations and mission accomplishment.

The activity also became an avenue to uplift troop morale and recognize the dedication, sacrifices, and steadfast commitment of personnel assigned in remote patrol bases, whose presence remains vital in sustaining security and public safety across the province.

The activity was attended by Hon. Mujiv S. Hataman, Governor of Basilan; Hon. Gulam “Boy” Hataman, Vice Mayor of Sumisip; Hon. Halil “Eppie” Haji, Vice Mayor of Tabuan-Lasa; Ustad Rajik Kabak; members of the local community; and troops of the 32IB led by CPT ARNEL J SILANOS, CMO Officer.

The presence of the 32IB during the Eid’l Adha prayer reflected the unit’s respect for the Islamic faith, local traditions, and the shared values of sacrifice, compassion, and unity. The engagement served as a meaningful opportunity to strengthen trust, mutual respect, and solidarity between the military and the Muslim community within the battalion’s Area of Operations.

𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐏, 𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐀𝐍 | 𝟐𝟑 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 –The 32nd Infantry (DAREDEVIL) Battalion, Philippine Army, under the leadership of LTC GERWIN T MAGHUYOP INF (GSC) PA, intensified its support for the government’s peace and reintegration initiatives through the conduct of Peace Advocates validation and agricultural site assessment at 9:00 AM on 23 May 2026 at Headquarters, 32IB, Barangay Tumahubong, Sumisip, Basilan, and Barangay Sukaten, Sumisip, Basilan.

The activity was spearheaded by MAJ JIMHAR S ASANUL (INF) PA, Battalion Executive Officer, together with CPT ARNEL J SILANOS (INF) PA, Civil-Military Operations (CMO) Officer, and SSg Harold U Laride (Inf) PA, CMO Non-Commissioned Officer of the battalion. The team coordinated closely with Mr. Alexis D. Cotales, Acting Provincial Agriculturist of the Provincial Agriculture Office, and his staff in the assessment and validation of agricultural lands intended for Peace Advocates beneficiaries.

The activity aimed to identify suitable agricultural areas that will provide sustainable livelihood opportunities for peace advocates and support their successful reintegration into mainstream society. Through the validation process, concerned stakeholders assessed the viability of identified sites to ensure long-term agricultural productivity and sustainability for beneficiaries.

The initiative highlights the continuing commitment of the government and partner agencies to promoting peace, reconciliation, and community development in Basilan. Through collaborative efforts, the program seeks to encourage former rebels to embrace peaceful and productive lives while contributing to the stability and progress of their respective communities.

In his statement, LTC MAGHUYOP emphasized that sustainable livelihood interventions play a vital role in building lasting peace in Basilan. He reiterated that the battalion remains committed to supporting initiatives that empower former rebels, strengthen community resilience, and foster unity and development throughout the province.

𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐏, 𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐀𝐍 | 𝟐𝟐 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 –Under the leadership of LTC GERWIN T MAGHUYOP INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of the 32nd Infantry (DAREDEVIL) Battalion, troops led by 2LT ZOSIMO R CONDE III (INF) PA, Platoon Leader of Bravo Company, conducted security operations and actively participated in a clean-up drive and road clearing activity at Barangay Sapa Bulak, Sumisip, Basilan.

The activity was carried out in close coordination with local civilians and barangay officials headed by Barangay Chairperson Hon. Abdul Rahim T. Ghaneeyun. It highlighted the continuing partnership between the military and the local community in promoting peace, order, and environmental stewardship.

The clean-up and road clearing operations focused on the removal of debris, clearing of roadside obstructions, and improvement of access roads within the barangay. These efforts aimed to ensure safer and more convenient mobility for residents and motorists while encouraging greater environmental awareness and community participation.

Beyond security operations, the troops worked hand-in-hand with community members, reinforcing the Battalion’s commitment to people-centered initiatives that support local development and public welfare. The activity also served to strengthen trust, cooperation, and camaraderie between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the residents of Sumisip.

𝐋𝐀𝐌𝐈𝐓𝐀𝐍 𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘, 𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐀𝐍 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐕𝐈𝐍𝐂𝐄 | 𝟐𝟏 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 –The 32nd Infantry (DAREDEVIL) Battalion, Philippine Army, led by LTC GERWIN T MAGHUYOP INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, actively participated in the Inter-Agency Stakeholders Seminar and Workshop for PAVE 2.0 KAELLUMAN held at Sitti Auna Riverland Resort, Lamitan City, from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM on 21 May 2026.

BGEN FREDERICK M SALES PA, Commander of the 101st Infantry “THREE RED ARROWS” Brigade, was present at the activity, whose participation significantly reinforced inter-unit coordination, strategic alignment, and operational synchronization among participating military and civilian stakeholders in support of peace and development convergence initiatives.

LTC MAGHUYOP was accompanied by CPT ARNEL J SILANOS (INF) PA, Civil-Military Operations (CMO) Officer of the unit, who emphasized the significance of strengthened coordination, synchronized planning, and sustained community engagement among stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of convergence initiatives under PAVE 2.0 KAELLUMAN.

The seminar and workshop served as a strategic platform for harmonizing inter-agency efforts aimed at sustaining peace, strengthening governance, and advancing development initiatives across Basilan Province. Discussions focused on improving collaborative mechanisms, enhancing localized peacebuilding efforts, and strengthening the delivery of essential government services to geographically isolated and disadvantaged communities.

Present during the activity were Hon. Ahmed Ibn Djaliv T. Hataman, members of the 1st District of the Basilan Provincial Board, MR. Mojahedeen Cosain, Chief of Staff of the Provincial Governor’s Office, Mrs. Manessa H. Castro, LGOO VI of the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) Basilan, representatives from the Philippine National Police (PNP), as well as the Commanders of the 18th Infantry Battalion, 45th Infantry Battalion, and 6th Special Forces Battalion.

Key points raised during the said seminar and worshop underscored the importance of unity among government agencies, inclusive governance, and coordinated interventions in addressing persistent socio-economic and security concerns in vulnerable communities. Stakeholders reaffirmed that collaborative planning and sustained engagement remain essential in preventing conflict recurrence and preserving the gains of peace in Basilan.

The 32IB reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to government initiatives that promote peace, development, and community resilience. The Battalion emphasized that lasting peace can only be sustained through strong partnerships among the Armed Forces of the Philippines, local government units, partner agencies, and local stakeholders working collectively toward inclusive and sustainable progress.

Furthermore, the activity highlighted the significance of PAVE 2.0 KAELLUMAN as a convergence framework that strengthens synergy among stakeholders, ensuring that peace and development interventions remain responsive, community-driven, and sustainable while addressing local concerns across Basilan Province.

The activity concluded successfully at approximately 12:30 PM, with participating agencies and stakeholders reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening inter-agency coordination and sustaining collaborative peace and development efforts in the province.

𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐏, 𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐀𝐍 | 𝟏𝟖 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 – The 32nd Infantry (DAREDEVIL) Battalion, Philippine Army, under the leadership of LTC GERWIN T MAGHUYOP INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, together with CPT ARNEL J SILANOS (INF) PA, Civil-Military Operations (CMO) Officer, actively participated in the Closing Ceremony of the 3rd Qur'anic Knowledge Competition for all Madrasahs in the Municipality of Sumisip held at the Municipal Gymnasium in Barangay Buli-Buli, Sumisip, Basilan.

The activity brought together students, educators, local government officials, religious leaders, and members of the security sector in a unified effort to promote academic excellence, Islamic values, and holistic youth development. It served as a platform that showcased the intellectual capabilities, moral discipline, and spiritual growth of young learners while reinforcing the value of education as a foundation for peaceful and progressive communities.

Present during the ceremony were key stakeholders and partner leaders, including Hon. Gulam “Boy” S. Hataman, Municipal Vice Mayor; Atty. Yarah A. Musa, Municipal Administrator of Sumisip; Hon. Sarib Hataman, Barangay Chairperson of Buli-Buli; Ustadz Pasir Ajanab, President of Jam’iya in Sumisip; Dr. Jul-Asrie H. Samir, Dean of Islamic College Bahi Hataman; PCPT Franklin Amistoso, Commanding Officer of the 1401st Company, RMFB 14; Dr. Aboulkair Tarasul, Chairman of the Basilan Ulama Council; and PEMS Ibno Lario, MESPO.

Their attendance highlighted the strong convergence of efforts among local government units, educational institutions, religious organizations, and security forces in advancing programs that nurture the intellectual, moral, and spiritual development of the youth in Sumisip.

The competition featured various Qur’anic and Islamic knowledge categories designed to strengthen students’ understanding of Islamic teachings, critical thinking, discipline, and confidence. It also encouraged camaraderie, moral responsibility, and the pursuit of knowledge—qualities essential in shaping future leaders who can contribute to peaceful and resilient communities.

In his message, LTC MAGHUYOP underscored the importance of investing in education as a long-term strategy for peacebuilding and development. He emphasized that initiatives such as the Qur'anic Knowledge Competition play a vital role in empowering the youth, strengthening moral values, fostering discipline, and cultivating a culture of excellence that contributes to the overall progress of the municipality of Sumisip.

𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐏, 𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐀𝐍 | 𝟐𝟏 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 – In line with the guidance and leadership of LTC GERWIN T MAGHUYOP INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, the 32nd Infantry (DAREDEVIL) Battalion, Philippine Army, participated in the Inter-Agency Basketball Tournament with the theme “Bola Hindi Droga” held at 9:00 AM on 21 May 2026 at the Municipal Gymnasium, Barangay Buli-Buli, Sumisip, Basilan.

Representing the battalion during the activity was CPT LEONEL VICTOR A MADRID (INF) PA, who joined various stakeholders and participants in promoting sportsmanship, camaraderie, and awareness against illegal drugs through meaningful community engagement.

The activity was conducted in collaboration with the Local Government Unit of Sumisip and the civilian populace, serving as a meaningful convergence of stakeholders committed to promoting peace, unity, and community resilience. The tournament highlighted sports as an effective platform for strengthening social cohesion and raising awareness against illegal drugs, particularly among the youth sector.

Beyond friendly competition, the event provided an avenue for meaningful interaction among local government officials, participating agencies, and civilians, fostering trust, mutual understanding, and cooperation. It reinforced the shared responsibility of stakeholders in promoting a drug-free, peaceful, and progressive community through proactive engagement and youth-centered development initiatives.

Through its active participation, the 32nd Infantry (DAREDEVIL) Battalion continues to support Civil-Military Operations programs that contribute to peacebuilding efforts and strengthen partnerships at the grassroots level.
