𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐏, 𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐀𝐍 | 𝟐𝟓 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 — The 32nd Infantry (DAREDEVIL) Battalion, under the leadership of LTC GERWIN T MAGHUYOP INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, further strengthened its partnership with the education sector through its participation in the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) General Assembly Meeting held at Bacung Elementary School, Barangay Bacung, Sumisip, Basilan.

Representing the Battalion were CPT LEONEL VICTOR A MADRID (INF) PA, CMO Officer, and Sgt Cliford S Canale (Inf) PA, CMO NCO. Their participation emphasized the Battalion’s commitment to maintaining open communication and coordination with school officials, parents, community leaders, and other stakeholders.

The assembly was led by Ms. Darha S. Ambil, School Head, and attended by Mr. Mohammad Sharib B. Hadjala, Sumisip Cluster Focal Head; Hon. Sarmin Mistal, Chairperson of Barangay Bacung; personnel from the Sumisip Municipal Police Station (MPS); parents; teachers; and other community stakeholders.

The gathering served as an avenue for stakeholders to discuss matters concerning the welfare of learners, school operations, community concerns, and the importance of maintaining a safe and supportive environment for students. It also provided an opportunity to strengthen coordination among the school, parents, local government, law enforcement, and the military in addressing concerns that may affect the safety and well-being of the school community.

During the engagement, the 32IB underscored the importance of community participation, information sharing, vigilance, and timely coordination among stakeholders. The Battalion likewise encouraged parents, teachers, and community leaders to maintain close communication with concerned authorities regarding security concerns and other issues affecting the community.

The participation of the 32IB reflects the unit’s continuing commitment to whole-of-community peace and security efforts, recognizing that the protection and development of communities require the collective efforts of government agencies, schools, families, community leaders, and other stakeholders.

Through sustained dialogue and meaningful engagement, the Battalion continues to build stronger relationships with the people of Basilan and contribute to a peaceful, secure, and conducive learning environment for the youth.

𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐏, 𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐀𝐍 | 𝟐𝟓 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 — The 32nd Infantry (DAREDEVIL) Battalion, under the leadership of LTC GERWIN T MAGHUYOP INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, continues to strengthen its partnership with local communities through sustained dialogue and meaningful engagement aimed at promoting lasting peace, security, and development in Basilan.

CPT LEONEL VICTOR A MADRID (INF) PA, Civil-Military Operations Officer, together with Sgt Cliford S Canale (Inf) PA, CMO NCO of this unit, conducted a community-based dialogue with Hon. Sarmin Mistal, Barangay Chairman of Bacung, local elder leaders, and civilian constituents at Brgy. Bacung, Sumisip, Basilan.

The dialogue served as an important platform for community members to openly discuss peace and security concerns affecting their barangay. Local leaders, elders, and residents actively shared their observations, concerns, and recommendations, highlighting the importance of unity, vigilance, and close cooperation in protecting their community and preserving the peace they have worked hard to achieve.
More than a consultation, the activity strengthened the bond of trust between the people and the 32nd Infantry Battalion. It reinforced the message that lasting peace cannot be achieved by security forces alone—it requires the active participation, cooperation, and shared responsibility of every member of the community.

Through open communication and stronger collaboration, the 32IB and the people of Brgy. Bacung are working together to identify concerns early, address emerging security challenges, counter misinformation, and prevent issues that could threaten peace and stability. The dialogue also encouraged residents to remain vigilant and actively participate in community efforts that promote safety and development.

The engagement highlighted the vital role of barangay officials, local elders, and civilian constituents as essential partners in peacebuilding. By providing the people with an avenue to voice their concerns and contribute recommendations, the 32IB continues to promote a people-centered approach to security built on trust, mutual respect, and genuine cooperation.

LTC MAGHUYOP emphasized that the partnership between the Armed Forces and the community remains vital in sustaining peace and security. Under his leadership, the 32nd Infantry (DAREDEVIL) Battalion remains steadfast in bringing the government and the Armed Forces closer to the people. Through continuous dialogue and stronger grassroots partnerships, the Battalion aims to empower communities to become active partners in safeguarding peace, protecting future generations, and sustaining development.

𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐏, 𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐀𝐍 | 𝟐𝟓 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 — The 32nd Infantry (DAREDEVIL) Battalion, under the leadership of LTC GERWIN T MAGHUYOP INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, strengthened its coordination with local stakeholders through a face-to-face dialogue with key officials and personnel of the Basilan Electric Cooperative (BASelCO) held at the TARBIDC Compound, Barangay Tumahubong, Sumisip, Basilan.

Representing the Battalion, MAJ JIMHAR S ASNUL (INF) PA, Executive Officer, led the engagement with BASelCO officials and personnel to further enhance communication, coordination, and mutual understanding between the two institutions.

The dialogue was attended by Mr. Czendy Morales of the Member Services Division, Mr. Jorich Flores, ISD Manager, Mr. Romel Ebbaa, Inspector, and Mr. Jimboy Lasang, Member Services Officer, all based in Isabela City.

The engagement provided an opportunity for both parties to discuss matters of common concern and reinforce cooperation in support of the community and the effective delivery of essential services in the area. It also highlighted the importance of sustained collaboration among security forces, government agencies, and service providers in promoting peace, security, and development.

The 32nd Infantry Battalion remains committed to maintaining open communication and fostering strong partnerships with government agencies, private organizations, and other stakeholders in pursuit of lasting peace, security, and sustainable community development in Basilan.

— The 32nd Infantry (DAREDEVIL) Battalion, under the leadership of LTC GERWIN T MAGHUYOP INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, strengthened its coordination with local stakeholders through an emergency coordination meeting held at Sapah Bulak Elementary School.

Representing the Battalion, MAJ JIMHAR S ASNUL (INF) PA, Executive Officer, attended the emergency coordination meeting concerning the security incident that occurred at Ateneo de Zamboanga University in Zamboanga City on 18 August 2026.

The meeting was attended by Hon. Abdul Rahim T. Ghaneeyun, Barangay Chairman of Sapah Bulak; Mr. Abdul-Muhmein P. Juhur of Sapah Bulak Elementary School; and PSSG Sonny D. Kalinggalan, Team Leader of JPST Akalun.

The participants discussed the incident and coordinated appropriate security measures to enhance the safety and security of the school, its learners and personnel, as well as the surrounding community. The meeting also emphasized the importance of timely information sharing, close coordination, and proactive security measures among concerned stakeholders.

The activity reflects the commitment of the 32IB DAREDEVIL to maintaining strong partnerships with local government units, educational institutions, and law enforcement agencies in addressing security concerns and ensuring a safe and secure environment for the community.

𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐏, 𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐀𝐍 | 𝟐𝟎 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 – The 32nd Infantry (DAREDEVIL) Battalion, under the leadership of LTC GERWIN T MAGHUYOP INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, together with the Local Government Unit of Sumisip and various government and security agencies, conducted the Inter-Agency Territorial Defense Operation (IA-TDO) Exercise at the Municipal Hall, Barangay Buli-Buli, Sumisip, Basilan.

Representing the 32IB were MAJ JIMHAR S ASANUL (INF) PA, Battalion Executive Officer; CPT JAN BERT C MADLANGBAYAN (INF) PA, Operations Officer; CPT ARNEL J SILANOS (INF) PA, Commanding Officer, Bravo Company; CPT LEONEL VICTOR A MADRID (INF) PA, Civil-Military Operations Officer; and 1LT PAULMAR J BUENAVENTE (INF) PA, Commanding Officer, Charlie Company.

The activity brought together key stakeholders from the LGU-Sumisip, including Atty. Yarah Musah, Administration/Legal Officer; Mrs. Ruayda Jingkatal, Head, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO); Mrs. Sheida Mae S. Sahi, Head, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO); and Mrs. Muayda A. Sakkalahul, OIC, Rural Health Unit of Sumisip.

Also participating were security and maritime stakeholders, including PMAJ FRANKLIN C AMISTOSO, RMFB 14-B; PCPT JAKARIA J MUIN, Chief of Police, Sumisip Municipal Police Station; ENS ROMAR A FERNANDEZ, Sub-Station Commander, Sumisip; and SFO4 CARLO RANDY R LAMIS, OIC, Sumisip Fire Station.

A major component of the exercise was the Coastal Defense Task, which focused on enhancing the collective capability of participating agencies to Detect, Disrupt, and Defeat potential threats or hostile activities along the coastal areas of Sumisip.

The Detect component emphasized the timely identification, reporting, validation, and monitoring of suspicious activities and potential security threats. The Disrupt component focused on coordinated and lawful actions to prevent identified threats from developing or escalating, while the Defeat component highlighted the importance of synchronized efforts to effectively contain and neutralize threats within the respective mandates and capabilities of participating agencies.

The exercise also strengthened inter-agency interoperability, information sharing, communication, and coordinated response mechanisms. It provided the participating agencies an opportunity to clarify their respective roles, assess existing procedures, and identify areas for improvement in responding to potential coastal security situations.
The activity underscored the importance of a whole-of-government approach in territorial and coastal defense, with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, local government units, maritime and emergency response agencies, health and social welfare offices, and other stakeholders working together to protect communities and maintain peace and security.

The exercise further enhanced operational preparedness and strengthened its partnership with LGU-Sumisip and other stakeholders. It also demonstrated the Battalion’s continuing commitment under the leadership of LTC MAGHUYOP to maintaining a responsive, coordinated, and capable security posture in support of the safety and welfare of the people of Basilan.

The public is hereby informed that the Inter-Agency Territorial Defense Operations (IA-TDO) Exercise 2026 will be conducted on August 19–20, 2026, in selected areas of Sulu and Basilan.

The exercise is a planned and coordinated simulation activity involving the Armed Forces of the Philippines, local government units, law enforcement agencies, emergency response organizations, and other concerned government agencies. It aims to strengthen inter-agency coordination, communication, and operational readiness in responding to territorial defense, peace and order, public safety, crisis management, and other emergency situations.

During the exercise, the public may observe increased movement of military and government personnel, vehicles, vessels, emergency responders, and other participating elements, as well as simulated operational and emergency response activities in designated exercise areas.

The public is advised not to be alarmed and to remain calm. All activities are part of the scheduled exercise and will be conducted with appropriate safety and security measures.

Residents are likewise requested to cooperate with authorities, observe safety instructions, and avoid entering designated exercise areas when advised by personnel on the ground.

The cooperation and understanding of the public are highly appreciated as government agencies work together to enhance preparedness and strengthen the collective capacity to protect our communities.

𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐏, 𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐀𝐍 | 𝟏𝟕 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 – The 32nd Infantry (DAREDEVIL) Battalion, under the leadership of LTC GERWIN T MAGHUYOP INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, further strengthened its partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Sumisip and various government agencies through an Initial Coordinating Conference for the upcoming Inter-Agency Territorial Defense Operation (IA-TDO) Exercise held at the Municipal Hall, Barangay Buli-Buli, Sumisip, Basilan.

Representing the Battalion were CPT JAN BERT C MADLANGBAYAN (INF) PA, Operations Officer; CPT ARNEL J SILANOS (INF) PA, Commanding Officer of Bravo Company; and CPT LEONEL VICTOR A MADRID (INF) PA, Civil-Military Operations Officer.

The conference brought together key representatives from different sectors, including Atty. Yarah Musah, Legal Officer; PMAJ FRANKLIN C AMISTOSO, RMFB 14-B; PCPT JAKARIA J MUIN, Chief of Police, Sumisip Municipal Police Station; LTJG JONNEL L DUAMAN, Sub-Station Commander, Sumisip; representatives from the Rural Health Unit of Sumisip; and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO).

The activity served as a venue to discuss and synchronize the plans, responsibilities, and coordination mechanisms of participating agencies in preparation for the conduct of the IA-TDO Exercise. Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening communication and coordination among the military, police, local government, health, and disaster response sectors to ensure a unified and organized response during simulated situations requiring inter-agency cooperation.

The participating agencies also discussed the importance of clearly defining their respective roles and responsibilities, establishing effective communication channels, and ensuring the availability of personnel and necessary resources. Such preparations are intended to enhance interoperability and improve the capability of government agencies to work together during emergencies, disasters, security-related incidents, and other situations that may require a coordinated response.

The conference likewise underscored that territorial defense is a shared responsibility that requires the active participation and cooperation of different government institutions and stakeholders. By working together, agencies can strengthen their preparedness, improve decision-making, and provide a more responsive and effective service to the community.

For the 32IB DAREDEVIL, the activity reflects its continuing commitment to building stronger partnerships with local government units and line agencies. The Battalion recognizes that effective territorial defense goes beyond military operations and requires whole-of-government coordination, community preparedness, and sustained cooperation among stakeholders.
The successful conduct of the coordinating conference demonstrates the collective commitment of the participating agencies to strengthen their readiness and interoperability while promoting peace, security, and resilience in the Municipality of Sumisip and the Province of Basilan.

Through sustained coordination and a unified approach, the 32IB DAREDEVIL and its partner agencies continue to advance their shared goal of ensuring a safer, more prepared, and more resilient community.

𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐏, 𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐀𝐍 | 𝟏𝟕 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 – The 32nd Infantry (DAREDEVIL) Battalion, under the leadership of LTC GERWIN T MAGHUYOP INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, strengthened its coordination with local government, education, and security stakeholders during the coordinating meeting for the upcoming Basilan School Division Athletic Association (BASDAA) Meet 2026 held at the Municipal Hall, Barangay Buli-Buli, Sumisip, Basilan.

Representing the Battalion were CPT JAN BERT C MADLANGBAYAN (INF) PA, Operations Officer; CPT ARNEL J SILANOS (INF) PA, Commanding Officer of Bravo Company; and CPT LEONEL VICTOR A MADRID (INF) PA, CMO Officer.

The meeting was presided over by Hon. Jul-Adnan P Hataman, Mayor of Sumisip, and attended by Mrs. Myra Mangkabung, School Division Superintendent; Mr. Mohammad Sharib B. Hadjala, Sumisip Cluster Focal Head; Atty. Yarah Musah, Legal Officer; PMAJ FRANKLIN C AMISTOSO, RMFB 14-B; PCPT JAKARIA J MUIN, Chief of Police, Sumisip MPS; and LTJG JONNEL L. DUAMAN, Sub-Station Commander, Sumisip.

During the meeting, participating agencies discussed important preparations and coordination measures for the upcoming athletic event, particularly those concerning security, safety, mobility, logistical support, and inter-agency cooperation. The discussions aimed to establish a coordinated approach among stakeholders to ensure that the student-athletes, coaches, officials, and other participants can safely and effectively participate in the competition.

The BASDAA Meet 2026 serves as an important venue for young athletes from different schools in Basilan to demonstrate their skills, discipline, perseverance, and sportsmanship. Beyond competition, the event also promotes camaraderie, teamwork, and positive engagement among students and communities.

The 32IB DAREDEVIL’s participation reflects the Battalion’s continuing commitment to supporting government programs and community activities, particularly initiatives that contribute to youth development, peace, unity, and community resilience.

Through sustained coordination among the Armed Forces of the Philippines, local government units, education sector, law enforcement agencies, maritime authorities, and other stakeholders, the participating agencies reaffirmed their shared commitment to creating a safe and peaceful environment where the youth can pursue their talents and aspirations.

𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐏, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐀𝐋𝐔𝐒𝐎, 𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐀𝐍 — On 17 August 2026, the 32nd Infantry (DAREDEVIL) Battalion, 11th Infantry (ALAKDAN) Division, Philippine Army, under the leadership of LTC GERWIN T MAGHUYOP INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, conducted the installation of tarpaulins promoting the Armed Forces of the Philippines Service Aptitude Test (AFPSAT) in selected barangays in Basilan.

The tarpaulins were installed at Claret School of Tumahubong, Sumisip; Sumisip Agro Fisheries High School, Barangay Buli-Buli, Sumisip, Basilan, Claret School of Maluso; and Furigay Colleges Mangal Campus to disseminate information and encourage qualified individuals to take the AFPSAT as part of the recruitment process of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

The activity aims to strengthen public awareness regarding opportunities to serve in the AFP and encourage qualified and interested individuals in the community to consider a career in military service.

Through this initiative, the 32IB continues to support the Philippine Army’s recruitment efforts while strengthening its partnership with local communities and promoting meaningful opportunities for the youth and other qualified residents of Basilan to serve the nation.

𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐏, 𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐀𝐍 — On 15 August 2026, the 32nd Infantry (DAREDEVIL) Battalion, 11th Infantry (ALAKDAN) Division, Philippine Army, under the leadership of LTC GERWIN T MAGHUYOP INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, conducted a Humanitarian Service Caravan for Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) Active Auxiliary (CAA) personnel and their families at Headquarters 32IB, Barangay Tumahubong, Sumisip, Basilan.

The humanitarian activity was conducted to provide essential medical and dental services and other forms of assistance to CAA personnel and their families, while strengthening the partnership between the Philippine Army, government agencies, security forces, and humanitarian organizations in promoting the welfare of communities in Basilan.

The activity was graced by BGEN BAYANI V CURAMING PN (M), Deputy Commander for Internal Defense Operation, Western Mindanao Command; BGEN FREDERICK M SALES PA, Commander, 1101st Infantry Brigade, 11ID, PA; Dr. Heidi Sampang of Remote Area Medical (RAM) Philippines; PCPT JAKARIA J MUIN, Chief of Police, Sumisip Municipal Police Station; LTJG JONNEL L DUAMAN PCG, Sub-Station Commander, Sumisip; and Dr. Muayda K Sakkalahul, Officer-in-Charge of the Rural Health Unit (RHU) Sumisip.

Also participating in the activity were Mr. Anwary Akalun of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development (PSWD), Dr. Nurhanina Jalali, Dentist from the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO), and Dr. Amina Ismael, Dentist from IPHO, who contributed their expertise and services to the successful conduct of the humanitarian caravan.

LTC MAGHUYOP expressed his sincere appreciation to all partner agencies, humanitarian organizations, medical professionals, and stakeholders who contributed to the success of the activity. He emphasized that the caravan is more than the delivery of medical and dental services, as it demonstrates the collective commitment of partner organizations to the welfare of CAA personnel and their families. He likewise underscored the importance of sustained collaboration and partnership in addressing the needs of communities and promoting peace, security, and development in Basilan.

Meanwhile, BGEN CURAMING highlighted the importance of recognizing and supporting the sacrifices and contributions of CAA personnel who serve alongside government security forces in maintaining peace and security in their respective communities. He emphasized that initiatives such as the Humanitarian Service Caravan demonstrate that the welfare of CAA personnel and their families remains an important concern of the government and its partner organizations. He also expressed his appreciation to the 32IB, the medical teams, partner agencies, and humanitarian organizations for their collective efforts in bringing essential services closer to the people.

The Humanitarian Service Caravan reflects the continuing commitment of the 32IB to support the welfare of CAA personnel and their families and to foster stronger collaboration among government agencies, security forces, humanitarian organizations, and local communities.

Through initiatives such as this, the 32nd Infantry (DAREDEVIL) Battalion continues to uphold its mandate of serving the people and strengthening partnerships toward a safer, more resilient, and peaceful Basilan.
