As the only Mother-Baby Friendly Health Facility and Mother-Baby Friendly Workplace in Siargao Island, we remain committed to protecting, promoting, and supporting breastfeeding as the best start in life for every child. Through this meaningful gathering, we continue to empower mothers, strengthen families and build a healthier future for our community.

MUNICIPAL NUTRITION IN ACTION with Santa Monica Primary Care Facility | Barangay IEC and Advocacy Campaign

Bringing health and nutrition closer to every community!

The Municipal Nutrition Committee, together with the Municipal Health Office and partner agencies, successfully conducted a Barangay Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) and Advocacy Campaign to empower families with knowledge and promote healthier lifestyles.

Key advocacy topics discussed included:
- The First 1,000 Days of Life – Building a strong foundation for every child’s growth and development.
- Nutrition for Adolescents – Promoting healthy eating habits for a healthier generation.
- Pinggang Pinoy – Encouraging balanced and nutritious meals for every Filipino family.
- Mobile Blood Donation – Inspiring community members to become lifesavers through voluntary blood donation.
- Breast Self-Examination and VIA Advocacy – Raising awareness on the early detection and prevention of breast and cervical cancer.
- Surgical and Medical Mission Screening – Preparing beneficiaries through health assessment and screening for upcoming medical and surgical services.

Together, we continue to educate, empower and inspire our communities toward better nutrition, disease prevention, and improved health outcomes.

A heartfelt thank you to the Department of Health – Center for Health Development CARAGA for conducting the site visit and productive coordination meeting in support of the ₱1 Million Grant for the Zero Open Defecation (ZOD) Program in the Municipality of Santa Monica, Surigao del Norte.

Your guidance, technical assistance, and unwavering commitment to improving environmental sanitation and public health are invaluable as we work together toward achieving and sustaining Zero Open Defecation status across all barangays. This initiative is a significant step toward ensuring healthier communities, preventing sanitation-related diseases, and improving the quality of life of every Santa Monicanon.

Building a healthier future for the youth of Siargao begins today!

From July 6–8, 2026, the Santa Monica Primary Care Facility (SMPCF) successfully conducted the Adolescent Job Aid 2.0 Skill Enhancement Training, equipping our healthcare workers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to provide quality, respectful, and adolescent-responsive healthcare services.

This training marks an important milestone and serves as the first step toward establishing the first Adolescent-Friendly Health Facility in the Siargao Islands a vision where every young person has access to safe, confidential, non-judgmental and youth-centered health services.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to our dedicated facilitators and speakers for generously sharing their expertise, inspiring meaningful discussions, and empowering our healthcare team to become stronger advocates for adolescent health and development. Your guidance has laid the foundation for a more inclusive and youth-friendly healthcare system in our island communities.
