Knowing the signs of Avian Influenza (Bird Flu) can prevent a widespread outbreak.

Watch out for sudden drops in egg production or food intake, extreme lethargy, coughing, purple discoloration on heads and combs, neurological signs like twisted necks, or unexplained sudden deaths.

If your birds show symptoms: Stop all movement and sales, isolate your flock immediately, and report the illness to your local veterinarian or agriculture authorities right away.

Today, the VQS Caraga โ€“ Surigao del Norte Substations successfully conducted its 2nd Quarter Meeting, led by Dr. Shiela Mae O. Biรฑas, Substation Supervisor. The meeting brought together personnel from Surigao Baseport, Lipata Seaport, and Siargao Ports to reflect on our accomplishments, discuss operational concerns, and align our priorities for the months ahead.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the presentation of each substation's 2nd Quarter Accomplishment Report, followed by a productive discussion on the proposed Unified Surigao del Norte Monthly Accomplishment Report Template to further improve the quality and consistency of our reporting.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to Dr. Jessica G. Naniong-Rosete, Substation Supervisor of Siargao Ports, for sharing the key learnings from the 2026 Quarantine Policy Training Workshop, ensuring that the knowledge gained is cascaded to the rest of the team.

Despite our limited manpower, our team remains committed to giving our best every day in delivering quality veterinary quarantine services. Thank you to everyone for your dedication and teamwork!

VQS Caraga Midyear Meeting | June 30, 2026

Today, the Veterinary Quarantine Station (VQS) Caraga successfully conducted its Midyear Quarterly Meeting via Zoom, headed by Dr. Jake S. Sepe, DVM, Head of VQS Caraga, bringing together personnel from all VQS stations across the region.

The meeting served as a venue to review our accomplishments for the first half of the year, discuss important operational updates, and strengthen coordination among our offices. Key agenda included:

The Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) was recognized as the โ€œMost Improved Operating Unitโ€ under the Bureaus Subcluster during the Department of Agricultureโ€™s (DA) FY 2025 Performance Appreciation System (PAS-OU) Awards held today at the BSWM Lopez Convention Hall in Quezon City.
