CLAVER, Surigao del Norte | September 4, 2026 — The Cabugo Fisherfolks Association (CAFA) marked another productive cycle in its mariculture operations with a successful bangus harvest today at the 15-meter diameter Mobile Mariculture Platform in Brgy. Cabugo, Claver.

The facility was provided through the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Shared Service Facility (SSF) Program under the Local Government Unit of Claver and is currently utilized by CAFA to provide fisherfolk with access to shared infrastructure and equipment that support and enhance their mariculture production capacity.

Today’s harvest demonstrates the value of sustained facility utilization. Through the continued efforts of LGU Claver and CAFA members, the SSF facility is being transformed into a productive platform for livelihood generation and enterprise development.

Through the SSF Program, DTI remains committed to strengthening community-based enterprises by providing appropriate facilities that help improve productivity and contribute to inclusive local economic growth.

CLAVER, Surigao del Norte — The Agri-Trade Fair and Night Market officially opened in Claver on September 1, 2026, as part of the activities of the Panaghiusa Festival 2026. The trade fair will run until September 13, 2026, providing local farmers, producers, and entrepreneurs an avenue to showcase their agricultural products and reach more consumers.

The opening ceremony was led by 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗮 𝗚𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗸𝗲𝗲, together with the members of the Sangguniang Bayan of Claver.

𝗗𝗧𝗜 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗿𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗙𝗮𝗲𝗹𝗻𝗮𝗿 expressed his support for the activity, highlighting the importance of continued collaboration in promoting local products and strengthening market opportunities for local enterprises.

𝗩𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗚𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗚𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗸𝗲𝗲 also graced the opening ceremony as special guest.

The activity highlights the strong partnership among the local government, DTI, and local stakeholders in promoting agriculture, entrepreneurship, and market development in the province.

Today, we join the Surigaonons in commemorating its 56th Charter Day—a celebration of its rich history, remarkable progress, and the enduring spirit of its people.

For 56 years, Surigao City has continued to grow as a vibrant center of commerce, entrepreneurship, tourism, and opportunity in Caraga. Its journey is a testament to the resilience, ingenuity, and bayanihan of Surigaonons who continue to build a stronger and more prosperous community.

Five (5) MSMEs from Surigao del Norte brought the province’s homegrown coconut-based products to the national market as they participate in the National Coconut Philippines Trade Fair, held from August 26 to 30, 2026 at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City.

Representing the province are:
(1) Lisbos Cacao Trading
(2) Aquariane Food Manufacturing
(3) Amorcess Wood Collection
(4) Panatao Agripreneurs Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PAMUCO), and
(5) Rural Improvement Club Producers Cooperative (RICPROCO).

More than a venue for product promotion, the trade fair served as a strategic platform for participating MSMEs to expand their market reach, establish business linkages, explore new market opportunities, and gain valuable insights on consumer preferences and industry trends.

Their participation also highlighted the province’s efforts to strengthen the coconut industry and its related enterprises by encouraging MSMEs to move beyond raw material production toward the development and commercialization of higher-value products.

Moreover, the participation of Surigao del Norte MSMEs underscores the Department of Trade and Industry’s continuing efforts to empower local enterprises, enhance their competitiveness, and provide platforms that connect them with broader markets.

The National Coconut Trade Fair runs until August 30, 2026, bringing together coconut farmers, processors, MSMEs, buyers, industry players, and other stakeholders in a venue dedicated to promoting the potential of the Philippine coconut industry.
