Reason/Message from NGCP:

We would like to request for an emergency shutdown of Placer-Madrid 69kV line to repair Phase C conductor with cut-strands between Strs. 84-85 located at Brgy. Poblacion, Bacuag, Surigao del Norte.

⚡ UNSCHEDULED POWER INTERRUPTION ADVISORY

Good evening, valued MCOs.

Please be informed of two (2) incidents of unscheduled power interruption recorded at 6:28 PM and 6:44 PM today, affecting the following areas:

• Portion of Brgy. Luna
• Ceniza
• Canlanipa Homes
• Arellano District
• Capitol Road
• Espina St.
• Portion of Brgy. Taft

Reason: For verification and assessment of the cause of the interruption.

Action Taken: Our line patrol team is currently conducting an inspection of the affected distribution lines to identify and address the source of the interruption.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and disruption this may have caused. We assure our valued member-consumers that our personnel are working to determine the cause and restore normal service as soon as possible.

SURNECO CLARIFICATION ON THE POWER INTERRUPTIONS LAST AUGUST 8, 2026

Dear Valued Member-Consumer-Owners (MCOs),

SURNECO would like to clarify the two widespread power interruptions experienced across its entire coverage area on August 8, 2026.

Based on the information and advisories provided by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), both incidents were transmission-related events originating from the NGCP system and were not caused by any fault or interruption originating from SURNECO’s distribution system.

🔌 FIRST POWER INTERRUPTION

📅 August 8, 2026
🕚 11:50 AM – Power interruption started
🕛 12:15 PM – Power restored

According to NGCP: The interruption was due to the activation of the System Integrity Protection Scheme (SIPS) following the outage of a critical 138 kV transmission line.

🔌 SECOND POWER INTERRUPTION

📅 August 8, 2026
🕓 4:27 PM – Power interruption started
🕓 4:38 PM – Power restored

According to NGCP: The cause of the incident is still under investigation and subject to further verification.

WHY WAS THE ENTIRE SURNECO COVERAGE AFFECTED?

The incidents originated from the NGCP transmission system, which supplies power to SURNECO. When a transmission-related event occurs, the power supply delivered to SURNECO is affected, consequently resulting in an interruption across the areas served by the cooperative.

It is important to clarify that *these particular interruptions were not caused by a problem in SURNECO’s distribution system. SURNECO's role during such transmission-related incidents is to closely coordinate with NGCP, monitor the status of the transmission supply, and facilitate the restoration of electricity to our MCOs once power becomes available.

SURNECO understands the inconvenience these unexpected interruptions may have caused our MCOs. We sincerely appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued trust in your electric cooperative.
