♻️🏥 SEGREGATE RIGHT, KEEP OUR HOSPITAL SAFE! 💚

On August 20, 2026, from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M., the Quality Improvement, Infection Prevention and Control, and Patient Safety Unit, in collaboration with the Public Health Unit, conducted Ward Classes on Proper Waste Segregation at the various Medical Wards of Caraga Regional Hospital.

Patients and watchers actively participated in this interactive health education session, where they learned the importance of properly identifying, separating, and disposing of different types of waste generated within the hospital.

Through simple discussions and practical examples, participants were reminded that proper waste segregation is everyone’s responsibility. Proper waste segregation helps prevent the spread of infection, reduces unnecessary exposure to hazardous waste, promotes a cleaner hospital environment, and supports the safety of patients, watchers, healthcare workers, and other hospital personnel.

🩷 PROTECTING OUR YOUTH, ENSURING A HEALTHY FUTURE! 💉

In celebration of National Adolescent Immunization Month, Caraga Regional Hospital, through its Department of Family and Community Medicine and Public Health Unit, joined a live radio guesting on August 20, 2026, from 8:30 A.M. to 9:30 A.M. at RMN-DXRS to discuss Adolescent Immunization, particularly Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccination.

Hosted by Station Manager Ms. Gay Dolfo-Tiu, the program featured Mr. Ric John Z. Lipao, RN, MAN, MPM-HG, Nurse III of the Department of Family and Community Medicine, and Mr. Albin Jay C. Tabamo, LPT, MSciEdBio, Health Education and Promotion Officer III of the Public Health Unit, as resource speakers.

The discussion focused on what HPV is, the diseases it can help prevent, the recommended age and doses for vaccination, vaccine safety and common side effects, and the facts behind common myths about HPV vaccination. The speakers also emphasized that it is not necessarily too late for eligible adolescents who missed vaccination and highlighted the important roles of parents, schools, barangay health workers, and healthcare professionals in helping young people access accurate information and appropriate vaccination services.

🫁 NATIONAL TB DAY | PA-CHECK KA LUNGS! 🫁

Ang Tuberculosis (TB) ay isang bacterial disease na dulot ng Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Karaniwan itong nakaaapekto sa baga ngunit maaari ring makaapekto sa ibang bahagi ng katawan.

⚠️ Mag-ingat sa mga sintomas: ubo nang 2 linggo o higit pa, lagnat, pamamayat, at pagpapawis sa gabi.

💨 Ang TB ay kumakalat sa hangin kapag ang taong may aktibong TB ay umuubo, bumabahing, dumudura, o nagsasalita. Hindi ito naipapasa sa pakikipagkamay, paggamit ng kubyertos, pakikipaghalikan, o pagbubuntis.

💊 Gaano katagal ang gamutan? Depende sa uri ng TB. Ang drug-susceptible TB ay karaniwang ginagamot nang 6–12 buwan, habang mas matagal ang gamutan para sa drug-resistant TB. Mahalagang sundin at tapusin ang tamang gamutan upang maiwasan ang drug resistance.

🩺 Huwag balewalain ang sintomas. Magpakonsulta agad sa healthcare worker para sa tamang pagsusuri at maagap na paggamot.

🫁💙 KNOW TB. GET TESTED. GET TREATED. END TB! 💙🫁

In observance of National Tuberculosis Day, the TB-DOTS Program, Department of Internal Medicine, and Public Health Unit conducted a Health Lecture on Tuberculosis on August 19, 2026, from 7:30 A.M. to 8:30 A.M. at the Ground Floor, OPD Building – Triage Area.

The informative session featured Dr. Carina B. Benitez, Medical Officer IV, Department of Internal Medicine, as the Resource Speaker and was moderated by the Public Health Unit, through Mr. Albin Jay C. Tabamo, LPT, MSciEdBio, Health Education and Promotion Officer III.

Participants learned important and practical information about what tuberculosis is, its signs and symptoms in adults and children, how TB is transmitted, common misconceptions about TB, proper diagnosis, correct sputum collection, treatment and the importance of completing the prescribed medication, possible medication side effects, and monitoring recovery through sputum examination, symptoms, weight, and chest X-ray.

Remember: TB is preventable, treatable, and curable. Early consultation, proper diagnosis, and completing the full course of treatment are essential in stopping the spread of TB and preventing drug resistance.
