Recent tragic incidents of school violence in the Philippines remind us of a difficult but important truth: creating safe schools goes beyond physical security—it begins with understanding, early recognition, and timely intervention.

This makes our 6th Annual Mental Health Forum especially timely.

With the theme “Healing Minds, Strengthening Communities: Creating Safe, Resilient, and Trauma-Informed Communities,” the forum will feature a discussion on “Understanding School Violence: Risk Factors, Warning Signs, and Prevention.”

Educators, mental health professionals, healthcare workers, parents, and community partners are invited to join us in promoting greater awareness, strengthening prevention efforts, and building supportive environments for children and young people.

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of San Jose, Province of Dinagat Islands, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (DTRC) Caraga on August 20, 2026, to strengthen the referral of clients from community-based rehabilitation and support the implementation of an Aftercare Program adopting the Yakap Bayan Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

𝐃𝐎𝐇-𝐇𝐅𝐒𝐑𝐁 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐭 𝐃𝐓𝐑𝐂 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐚

SURIGAO CITY – The Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (DTRC) Caraga underwent an onsite inspection by the Department of Health's Health Facilities and Services Regulatory Bureau (DOH-HFSRB) on August 5, 2026, as part of the Center's preparation for the renewal of its License to Operate.

The inspection team was composed of Dr. Nestor Bonagua Jr., Medical Officer IV; Ar. Reynaldo Rabe Jr., Architect III; Ms. Ruby Rosa Velasco, Licensing Officer III; and Mr. Fiel Luis Dela Cruz, Medical Technologist III. The activity began with an opening meeting, followed by an inspection of the Center's dormitory facilities and a review of the required documents.

The onsite inspection forms part of the regulatory requirements for the renewal of DTRC Caraga's License to Operate, which will be applied in October 2026. The assessment helps ensure that the Center continues to comply with the Department of Health's standards for licensed treatment and rehabilitation facilities.
