The Municipality of Suyo, Ilocos Sur, under the leadership of Mayor Mario B. Subagan, was conferred a Certificate of Recognition as a Regional Qualifier, Local Government Category, for the TESDA Kabalikat Awards 2026 by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), in recognition of its exemplary contribution to the advancement and promotion of Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Region I.

This recognition highlights the Municipality’s sustained commitment and active support for programs and initiatives that promote skills development, broaden access to technical-vocational training opportunities, empower individuals with relevant and marketable skills, and contribute to building a competent, productive, and resilient workforce.

⚠️ SCHOOL HEADS ARE THE DECISION-MAKERS ON CLASS SUSPENSION.

All school heads are advised to closely monitor and assess the actual weather conditions in their respective areas and decide whether class suspension is necessary due to hazards or safety concerns brought about by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

📣 Any decision to suspend classes shall be announced by the respective school. Parents and learners are advised to wait for and follow official announcements from their school.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Parents are likewise encouraged to prioritize the safety of their children and exercise appropriate judgment when weather conditions make travel unsafe.

As of 8:00 PM today, 2 September 2026, Tropical Storm "PILANDOK" is being monitored INSIDE the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm “SAUDEL” (formerly OBET) and LPA 08m are being monitored OUTSIDE the PAR. LPA 08m has a "LOW" chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
All are advised to monitor updates from PAGASA-DOST.

​Our healthcare workers and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) are continuously deployed across all 8 barangays to ensure our children are safe from the threats of measles (tigdas) and rubella (tigdas-hangin).

📜 CALL FOR SUPPORT: CULTURAL MAPPING OF SUYO, ILOCOS SUR

The Municipality of Suyo is conducting a Cultural Mapping Project to document and preserve our local heritage.

We are looking for objects, materials, and documents that are 50 years old or older, such as:

🛠️ Traditional tools and equipment
🌾 Farming and livelihood implements
🏺 Household items and utensils
🎨 Arts, crafts, and artworks
📜 Old documents, photographs, letters, and records
🪑 Antique furniture and other household objects
🧺 Traditional baskets, weaving materials, and indigenous items
⛪ Religious or ceremonial objects
👗 Traditional clothing and personal belongings

Every old object carries a story. Every story is part of our heritage.

If you or someone you know owns an item that may be culturally or historically significant, please refer it to us or coordinate with LGU Suyo for documentation.
