NHCP Museo nina Leon at Galicano Apacible

IKA-162 ANIBERSARYO NG KAPANGANAKAN NI GALICANO APACIBLE

Ngayong araw, ginugunita ang ika-162 Anibersaryo ng Kapanganakan ni Galicano Apacible. Nag-alay ng bulaklak sa kaniyang busto sa Balayan, Batangas, kaninang umaga ang Pambansang Komisyong Pangkasaysayan ng Pilipinas, kasama ang Lokal na Pamahalaan ng Balayan sa pamamagitan ng Tanggapan Pangturismo ng Balayan, at Kaanak ni Apacible.

Si Galicano Apacible ay isang doktor. Sa Espanya, sumama siya sa mga Pilipinong nagbunyag ng mga pang-aabuso ng mga Espanyol. Nagsilbi siyang pangulo ng La Solidaridad na binuo noong ika-13 ng Disyembre 1888. Kinalaunan, nagsilbi naman si Galicano bilang tagapangulo ng Comite Central Filipino na nakabase sa Hong Kong. Dahil dito, ipinadala siya bilang sugo sa iba’t ibang bansa.
Pagkatapos ng digmaang Pilipino-Amerikano, pumasok siya sa pulitika. Nahalal bilang gobernador ng Batangas noong 1908-1909. Sa sumunod na pitong taon, naging kinatawan siya ng Unang Distrito ng Batangas sa Asembleya ng Pilipinas. Noong ika-15 ng Enero, 1917, itinalaga siya bilang Kalihim ng Agrikultura at Likas na Yaman.

Nagretiro Galicano sa pulitika noong 1921 at namuhay bilang isang sibilyan. Pumanaw siya noong 22 Marso 1949 sa sakit na pneumonia.

𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐍𝐀𝐍: Nakikiisa ang mga kawani ng Museo nina Leon at Galicano Apacible, Museo nina Marcela Mariño at Felipe Agoncillo, at ng Lokal na Pamahalaan ng Taal sa pagdiriwang ng ika-128 Anibersaryo ng Kalayaan ng Pilipinas.

Sa pamamagitan ng gawaing ito, ipinahahayag ng mga kawani ang kanilang pagpapahalaga sa kalayaan at paggunita sa mga sakripisyo ng mga bayaning nagtaguyod ng kasarinlan ng bansa, katulad nina Leon at Galicano Apacible.

In preparation for the upcoming celebration of National Flag Days 2026, personnel and on-the-job trainees of the Museo nina Leon at Galicano Apacible proudly displayed Philippine flag buntings throughout the museum premises as a symbol of patriotism, unity, and respect for the nation’s heritage.

Pursuant to Section 30 of Republic Act No. 8491, otherwise known as the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines, the period from 28 May to 12 June of each year is declared as National Flag Days. During this period, all government offices, agencies, and instrumentalities, as well as business establishments, educational institutions, and private homes, are encouraged to prominently display the National Flag as an expression of nationalism and solidarity among Filipinos.

Let us continue to honor the sacrifices of our heroes and uphold the dignity of our National Flag as we commemorate this important national observance.

In line with Proclamation No. 1264, s. 2026; the NHCP Central Office and our Shrines, Museums, and Landmarks across the country are 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 on 27 May 2026, Wednesday, in commemoration of Eid'l Adha.

Regular operations resume on Thursday, 28 May 2026.

𝑯𝒊𝒓𝒂𝒚𝒂 offers students a fresh and exciting way to rediscover our history and cultural heritage by transforming the museum experience into an interactive learning adventure beyond the conventional gallery visit. Through specially designed worksheets and activities, participants will explore museum galleries, solve puzzles, escape mazes, search for artifacts, and enjoy engaging games that reveal our heroes beyond what they are traditionally known for. Exciting prizes also await the participants!
