ＨＩＬＩＮＧＯＮ: In celebration of the Month of the Ocean with the theme “Sustaining Ocean Health, Sailing Resilient Nation,” the Marine Environmental Protection Group (MEPG) Bicol, together with DENR Region V, ICRM Legazpi, NAVSOG BCL, Deep Responder successfully conducted a Nationwide Simultaneous Coastal and Underwater Clean-up Activity (Scubasurero) on 22 May 2026 at Pasig Reef, Rawis, Legazpi City, Albay, and Buntod Reef Marine Sanctuary and Sandbar, Masbate.

Joined by representatives from PENRO Masbate, CENRO Mobo, SAMAPUSI, and local volunteers, the activity resulted in the collection of seven (7) sacks of non-biodegradable waste from an estimated five hundred (500) meter stretch of coastal and underwater areas. The initiative highlights the importance of collective action in addressing marine pollution and protecting vital marine ecosystems.

The accomplishment underscores the continued commitment of the Marine Environmental Protection Command (MEPCOM) and its partner agencies to ocean conservation, environmental stewardship, and strengthening public awareness on the importance of safeguarding the marine environment for future generations
