LOOK | The Provincial Government of Kalinga through the Office of the Provincial Health Officer (OPHO), together with the Provincial Department of Health-Kalinga (PDOHO), joined the community in observing the ๐ˆ๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ง๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐š๐ฅ ๐€๐ˆ๐ƒ๐’ ๐‚๐š๐ง๐๐ฅ๐ž๐ฅ๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ ๐Œ๐ž๐ฆ๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐š๐ฅ today, May 28, at the Kalinga Sports Center, Bulanao, Tabuk City.

Carrying this year's theme, "๐‹๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐‹๐ž๐ ๐š๐œ๐ฒ: ๐‘๐ž๐ฆ๐ž๐ฆ๐›๐ž๐ซ. ๐€๐๐ฏ๐š๐ง๐œ๐ž. ๐€๐œ๐ญ. ๐Š๐ž๐ž๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐‹๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ ๐€๐ฅ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž," health workers, partners, and community members gathered to honor lives lost, raise awareness, and reaffirm our shared commitment to ending HIV/AIDS stigma. Free HIV testing and counseling services were made available to attendees throughout the event.

As we light a candle in remembrance, we also light the way toward a healthier, more compassionate Kalinga where every life is valued, every story is heard, and no one faces HIV/AIDS alone.

We remember those we have lost. We advance the cause they believed in. We act for those still fighting. ๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ

Infants in the province now have better access to healthcare with the opening of the region's first Newborn Screening Satellite Continuity Clinic at the Kalinga Provincial Hospital (KPH), led by OIC-Chief of Hospital Dr. Reynaldo Aranca, on May 26, 2026. This new facility aims to bring specialized services closer to families and strengthen the delivery of newborn healthcare across the province.

The clinic addresses a critical need in pediatric health. Newborn Screening is a public health program designed to identify infants who may have serious but treatable congenital disorders before any symptoms appear. When a baby has a positive screening result, a Newborn Continuity Clinic serves as a specialized center to ensure long-term management and follow-up care. As a Satellite Clinic, this new extension in Kalinga connects directly to the main continuity clinic, the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center, to provide accessible, life-saving services right in the community.

The pioneering launch sets the foundation for similar clinics scheduled to open soon in a neighboring province. During the event, Dr. Glady Rose R. Jambaro presented an operational overview of the new facility and its role in local healthcare. Kalinga Governor James S. Edduba, Vice Governor Dave Q. Odiem, represented by Ms. Wendra Odiem, City Mayor Darwin C. Estraรฑero, and Provincial Health Officer II Dr. Edward B. Tandingan spoke to affirm the local government's strong commitment to supporting these advanced pediatric services.

National Scientist Dr. Carmelita Padilla, through a recorded video message, and NIP Program Manager Joyce Rillorta of DOH-CAR delivered their inspirational messages as well.

The morning program began with a blessing and ribbon-cutting, attended by representatives from the Newborn Screening Reference Center, DOH-CAR, BGHMC, district hospitals, rural health units, and other health partners.

1. Magpatingin sa health center upang matukoy ang iyong karamdaman at mabigyan ng tamang lunas para sa bato sa kidney, kabilang ang paggamit ng dahon ng sambong bilang gamot.
2. Pakuluan ang tinadtad at sariwang pinitas na dahon ng sambong sa kaserolang may 2 basong tubig hanggang sa kalahati na lamang ang matira. Huwag takpan ang kaserola matapos kumulo ang tubig.
3. Palamigin nang husto at saka salain.
4. Hatiin sa 3 bahagi. Uminom ng 1 bahagi, 3 beses sa isang araw.
5. Uminom ng 12 baso o higit pang tubig araw-araw.
6. Dami ng tinadtad na dahon ng sambong ayon sa edad ng pasyente:
- 3 kutsara para sa edad 7โ€“12 taong gulang
- 6 na kutsara para sa edad 13 taong gulang pataas

TABUK CITY โ€” Pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and parents of malnourished children gathered in Barangay Masablang today, May 21, for a community health education session aimed at improving maternal and child wellness.

The activity aligns with the PuroKalusugan strategy, which focuses on bringing primary healthcare services and vital health education directly to the grassroots level, ensuring no community is left behind.

The session focused on essential healthy habits for women, highlighting the importance of prenatal care, routine vaccines, proper nutrition, oral health, newborn screening, and breast cancer awareness. In addition to the lectures, 22 participants also received direct dental services during the event.

To provide a well-rounded approach to family health, personnel from the Population Development (PopDev) office also led discussions on family planning, adolescent health, responsible parenthood, reproductive health, and the prevention of violence against women and children (VAWC).

The health initiative was a collaborative effort between Health Center II and the Masablang Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU).

The outreach initiative offered essential medical consultations and dental checkups directly to the community. Alongside the clinical services, the City Health Services Office (CHSO) led a blood donation drive, while health workers conducted educational sessions focusing on nutrition, dental care, cancer awareness for breast and cervical health, and the "7 Healthy Habits" campaign.

The activity was organized through a joint partnership between Tabuk Health Center II and the Nambucayan Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) to bring accessible healthcare closer to rural communities.

Residents accessed essential services such as medical consultation,dental care, circumcision, haircuts, nutrition counseling, and blood lettingโ€”responding to the immediate needs of the community.

Human Resources for Health, including dentists, nurses, midwives, pharmacists, and medical technologists, were mobilized to support and strengthen local service delivery.

The activity also opened space for dialogue through the Barangay Development Program consultation, allowing community concerns to be heard and addressed alongside partner government agencies.
