The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Regional Office VIII through the Public Housing and Settlements Division (PHSD) partnered with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to enhance the capacity of Local Government Units (LGUs) in digital validation and data collection for Informal Settler Families (ISFs) through a two-day KoboToolbox training on October 13โ14, 2026 in Tacloban City.
The two-day training aims to strengthen the capacity of LGUs to use digital tools for ISF validation, profiling, and data collection. Through KoboToolbox, LGUs can gather accurate, timely, and reliable data to support evidence-based housing and settlement planning and help ensure that shelter assistance reaches the families who need it most.
The sessions feature discussions on the Information Management Roadmap and hands-on KoboToolbox training for enumerators, facilitated by Ms. Monica Dianne L. Martin, National Information Management Officer of the IOM Philippines. Participants are also engaging in simulation exercises and specialized training for administrators and report writers to enhance their skills in digital data management and reporting.
Through this partnership, DHSUD VIII and IOM continue to empower LGUs with the knowledge and digital tools needed to make ISF validation and data collection faster, more accurate, and more consistent across Eastern Visayas. These efforts contribute to better-informed housing policies, more responsive shelter programs, and stronger communities.
This initiative also forms part of the National Shelter Month celebration, anchored on the theme โTahanan. Pamayanan. Kinabukasan.โ It underscores the importance of reliable data and strong partnerships in advancing inclusive housing and building safer, more resilient communities for Filipino families.
