The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Region 8 and the Local Planning and Development Coordinators Association of Northern Samar (LDCANS) collaborated to conduct a four-day intensive training workshop from March 24โ27, 2026, in Tacloban City. Attended by representatives from 18 Local Government Units (LGUs) across Northern Samar, the program provided expert guidance on the implementation of the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP), the enforcement of Zoning Ordinances (ZO), and the processing of subdivision and memorial park developments pursuant to Executive Order Nos. 71 and 72. The event opened with a message from DHSUD Regional Director Cristie Y. Reyes, EnP., setting a proactive tone for strengthening local planning capabilities pursuant to Executive Orders 71 and 72.
Throughout the training, participants engaged in a series of technical presentations and hands-on sessions led by DHSUD technical personnel. Key topics included design standards for residential subdivisions under PD 957 and BP 220, balanced housing development, and the specific regulations governing memorial parks and industrial subdivisions. The training also covered practical workshops where attendees applied their knowledge to locational clearance evaluation, fee computation, and the approval of development permits.
The activity was attended by officers from the LDCANS led by its Chapter President Engr. Provo Siervo Jr. and diverse delegations including Sangguniang Bayan members from the LGUs of Allen, Bobon, Capul, Catarman, Lavezares, Lope de Vega, Mondragon, Rosario, San Antonio, San Isidro, Victoria, Catubig, Gamay, Las Navas, Mapanas, Palapag, Pambujan, and Silvino Lubos.
By equipping local functionaries with updated guidelines and standardized enforcement tools, the activity ensures a more organized, legal, and sustainable approach to real estate and land use management throughout the province.
