21 August 2026 - The Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Services Office VIII (PSA RSSO VIII) brought its National ID and Civil Registry System (CRS) services closer to the people of Abuyog as it joined the Jobs Fair organized by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Western Leyte Field Office at the Abuyog Community Center (ACC) Evacuation Center, Brgy. Bunga, Abuyog, Leyte.
The PSA’s participation came upon the invitation of the DOLE Western Leyte Field Office, providing residents with an opportunity to avail themselves of essential PSA services while attending the Jobs Fair.

The Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Services Office 8 (PSA-RSSO 8) successfully conducted the Joint Second and Third Level Training on 2026 Annual Poverty Indicators Survey (APIS) Data Processing from 17 to 19 August 2026 in Tacloban City. The three-day training was attended by Chief Statistical Specialists, Provincial Focal Persons, Assistant Provincial Focal Persons, and hired Data Processors from the different Provincial Statistics Offices (PSO) in the region.

The training aimed to strengthen the participants’ knowledge and understanding of the various data processing procedures involved in the 2026 APIS. It focused on key activities such as checking the completeness and consistency of data entries, editing, coding, and data validation, which are essential in transforming collected survey responses into accurate and reliable statistics.

Through the training, participants were equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively perform data processing tasks and contribute to ensuring the quality and reliability of the data generated from the 2026 APIS.

In 1987, the National Census and Statistics Office (NCSO) was renamed as National Statistics Office (NSO). In 2013, the enactment of Republic Act No. 10625 or the Philippine Statistical Act established the _______________________________ which serves as the country’s central statistical authority. It is responsible for major national censuses and surveys, sectoral statistics, selected administrative recording systems, and the compilation of national accounts.

📢PUBLIC ADVISORY

The Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Services Office VIII (PSA-RSSO VIII) informs the public that there will be no transactions on 21 August 2026 (Friday) at all PSA Offices and Civil Registry System (CRS) Outlets in the region, pursuant to Proclamation No. 1006, s. 2025, declaring the date as a Special (Non-Working) Day throughout the country in commemoration of the death anniversary of former Senator Benigno S. Aquino Jr. Likewise, services at the National identification System Fixed Registration Center located at Gaisano Capital, Real Street, Tacloban City will also be suspended on the said date.

CRS clients with confirmed appointments scheduled on 21 August 2026 will be accommodated on the next working day upon the resumption of office operations.
