This afternoon, August 13, 2026, two police officers from Tacloban City Police Station 1 visited DAPBMES and met with our School Administrative Officer to discuss Nihilistic Violent Extremism (NVE) and the importance of awareness and prevention in our school community.

DAPBMES stands for peace, unity, respect, and a safe learning environment. Our police partners also shared that the school may invite them for a seminar or orientation for learners and parents to further strengthen awareness on NVE and violence prevention.

📚 DIVISION MONITORING ON THE DELIVERY, UTILIZATION, STORAGE, AND MAINTENANCE OF DEPED-PROCURED LEARNING RESOURCES

On Monday, August 10, 2026, Dr. A.P. Bañez Memorial Elementary School welcomed the Division Monitoring Team from DepEd Tacloban City for the monitoring of the Delivery, Utilization, Storage, and Maintenance of DepEd-Procured Learning Resources.

The monitoring activity was led by CID Chief and Concurrent OIC-ASDS, Sir Mark Chester Anthony G. Tamayo, together with the dedicated team of Education Program Supervisors (EPS) from the Curriculum Implementation Division.

The activity aimed to ensure that DepEd-procured learning resources are properly received, accounted for, stored, maintained, and utilized effectively in support of quality teaching and learning.

DAPBMES expresses its sincere appreciation to the CID Monitoring Team for their valuable time, guidance, technical assistance, and continued support in strengthening the school's management and utilization of learning resources.

Our gratitude also goes to the School Administration and personnel for their cooperation and commitment in ensuring that our learning resources are properly managed and made accessible to our learners and teachers. 📖✨

🏆🏃‍♀️🏀 DAPBMES SPORTS FEST 2026! 🏐⚽🥇

Last Saturday, August 8, 2026, Dr. A.P. Bañez Memorial Elementary School came alive with energy, excitement, teamwork, and sportsmanship as we held our Sports Fest 2026! 🎉👏

With the theme “UNITED IN SPORTS, STRONGER IN SPIRIT,” our learners showcased not only their athletic skills but also the values of teamwork, discipline, determination, camaraderie, fair play, and respect. 💪❤️

From every game, every cheer, every winning moment, and even every hard-fought challenge, our young athletes reminded us that sports are not only about winning—they are about building friendships, developing confidence, learning to work together, and becoming stronger individuals. 🏅✨

A special shout-out and heartfelt THANK YOU to the DAPBMES Marching Band for providing the lively and inspiring music during our parade! 🎺🥁🎶 Your music added excitement and made the opening of our Sports Fest even more memorable.

Our sincere appreciation also goes to our School MAPEH Teacher, Ma’am Rosalie Delantar, for leading and guiding the DAPBMES Marching Band and for their wonderful performance during the parade. Your dedication and talent truly helped set the spirit of celebration and unity throughout the event! 👏❤️

Yesterday, August 3, 2026, Dr. A.P. Bañez Memorial Elementary School (DAPBMES) proudly celebrated its 61st Founding Anniversary—a significant milestone that honors six decades of commitment to quality education, dedicated service, and community partnership.

Established in 1965, DAPBMES traces its humble beginnings to the generosity of the family of the late Dr. Agustin Pedro Bañez, who donated the land where the school now stands. Their vision and generosity laid the foundation for what would become a nurturing institution that has educated and inspired generations of learners in Fatima Village, Tacloban City.

From its early years with a handful of classrooms and dedicated educators, DAPBMES has steadily grown into one of the city's respected public elementary schools. Throughout the decades, the school has continuously improved its learning environment by expanding its facilities, embracing educational innovations, strengthening learner-centered programs, and fostering meaningful partnerships with parents, alumni, local government units, and community stakeholders.

DAPBMES has also remained steadfast through every challenge and milestone in its history. Guided by dedicated school heads, committed teachers, hardworking non-teaching personnel, and supportive stakeholders, the school has continued to fulfill its mission of providing accessible, inclusive, and quality basic education while nurturing learners to become responsible, resilient, and productive members of society.

Ngayong Lunes, Agosto 3, 2026, sa isinagawang Flag Raising Ceremony, buong pagmamalaking nakiisa ang mga g**o at kawani ng Dr. A.P. Bañez Memorial Elementary School (DAPBMES) sa pagsisimula ng pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wika sa pamamagitan ng pagsusuot ng Filipiniana at Barong Tagalog.

Ang simpleng pagkakaisang ito ay sumasalamin sa ating paggalang, pagmamahal, at pagpapahalaga sa wikang Filipino at sa mayamang kultura at tradisyon ng ating bansa. 🍲 Official Start of the School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) Hot Meals 🍲

Yesterday marked the official start of the Hot Meals component of the School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) for School Year 2026–2027 at Dr. A.P. Bañez Memorial Elementary School.

Every Thursday and Friday, our 390 identified beneficiaries will receive nutritious hot meals to support their health, nutrition, and learning.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to our SBFP Division Focal Nurse, Ms. Jaja Refuerzo, and her team for their presence, guidance, and continued support in ensuring the successful implementation of the program.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to our dedicated parent volunteers and school personnel, whose time, commitment, and teamwork made the first day of hot meal distribution a success.

Special thanks as well to our School Administration, led by our School Principal, for the tireless behind-the-scenes efforts in the procurement process, preparation of the required documents, and overall coordination. Their dedication ensured that all requirements were completed on time, allowing the program to officially commence as scheduled.

As we continue this meaningful program, we warmly invite parents, stakeholders, alumni, community partners, and other volunteers to join us in this shared mission of nourishing our learners. Your time, support, and service can make a lasting difference in the lives of our children. 🍽️ SBFP S.Y. 2026–2027 OFFICIALLY BEGINS AT DAPBMES! 🎉

Today, July 27, 2026, marks the official implementation of the School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) for School Year 2026–2027 at Dr. A.P. Bañez Memorial Elementary School (DAPBMES).

This school year, our school proudly serves 390 identified beneficiaries through the School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP), funded by the Department of Education (DepEd). The program aims to improve the nutritional status of our learners by providing nutritious meals that support their health, attendance, and academic performance.

The implementation of the program is under the leadership of our School Principal Verna Managa, JD, with the dedicated efforts of our SBFP Coordinators, Ma'am Connie Q. Picorro and PDO Florentina Lodevico, Administrative Officer Engr. John Brylle Badrina. This initiative is made possible through the collaborative efforts of our teaching and non-teaching personnel, parents, and stakeholders.

📅Weekly Feeding Schedule:
🥖Monday to Wednesday – Distribution of Nutritious Food Products (NFP) such as Nutribun, popcorn, fruit juice, and other nutritious food items.
🍛Thursday to Friday – Serving of freshly prepared hot meals at the school's Feeding Center and Activity Area.

Our school also expresses its sincere appreciation for the guidance and supervision of the Schools Division Office of DepEd Tacloban City, under the leadership of Division SBFP Focal Person, Ms. Jaja Refuerzo, and her dedicated SBFP Team, whose continuous technical support and monitoring help ensure the effective implementation of the program in our school.

🤝 Building Healthy Habits, One Handwash at a Time! 🧼💙

Dr. A.P. Bañez Memorial Elementary School extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Tacloban City Eagles Club for their generosity and commitment to community service through the donation and ceremonial turnover of a Handwashing Facility for our school.

This meaningful donation will greatly benefit our learners, teaching and non-teaching personnel, and will serve as an essential facility in promoting proper hygiene and sanitation, especially during the implementation of the School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) for School Year 2026–2027.

📢 Another School Improvement Milestone Achieved! 🎉

With grateful hearts, we are pleased to share that the School Podium has finally arrived and is now ready for use! 🙏

This project was made possible through the proceeds of the Kuratsa King and Queen Fundraising Activity, with additional support from a small portion of the school canteen fund.

This accomplishment would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our SPTA Officers, parents, teachers, stakeholders, and everyone who contributed to the success of our fundraising activities.
