WATCH | Echoes of the Corps - 546ECB Unit History

The 546th Engineer Battalion, proudly known as the "Barrier Breakers," is one of the Philippine Army's premier engineer units under the 53rd Engineer Brigade (Visayas Builders). Originally assigned to the 52nd Engineer Brigade, the battalion became part of the 53rd Engineer Brigade on 16 June 1986 following the brigade's expansion to strengthen military engineering capabilities throughout the Visayas. Since then, the unit has continuously provided combat engineering, horizontal and vertical construction, disaster response, and infrastructure development in support of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the government's peace and development initiatives.

For more than four decades of dedicated service, the 546ECB has built a distinguished legacy as a reliable partner in nation-building. Headquartered in Tacloban City, the battalion has successfully implemented numerous infrastructure projects, humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR) operations, and community development programs across Eastern Visayas. Through the professionalism, technical expertise, and unwavering commitment of its officers and enlisted personnel, the Barrier Breakers continue to embody their mission of constructing vital facilities, restoring communities affected by disasters, and enhancing the operational readiness of the Philippine Army while faithfully serving the Filipino people with honor, excellence, and patriotism.
