Congratulations to Our BDRRMC Members on a Job Well Done!
The final day of our 3-Day Capacity-Building Training concluded with valuable learning experiences that further strengthened the knowledge, skills, and preparedness of our BDRRMC members.

Our sincere appreciation goes to our facilitators Frank Anthony A. Salvedia and Allan G. Arcallana from the Tacloban City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), together with Mark Anthony Bertos from TACRU, for generously sharing their expertise and practical experience in disaster preparedness and emergency response.

The morning sessions focused on essential first aid and basic life-saving techniques, including proper wound bandaging, the correct use of triangular bandages, application of square knots for securing dressings and splints, and the fundamentals of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Participants were also introduced to practical emergency response procedures that can be applied during real-life incidents.

In the afternoon, participants reviewed the BDRRMC organizational structure, the roles and responsibilities of each committee, and the importance of coordination before, during, and after disasters. The training concluded with an earthquake response simulation, where participants applied the knowledge and skills they gained throughout the three-day activity. The exercise highlighted teamwork, communication, incident management, and coordinated rescue operations in a realistic emergency scenario.
While this training marks the completion of a meaningful three-day learning journey, disaster preparedness is a continuous process that requires constant learning, practice, and improvement. Throughout the activity, every participant demonstrated commitment, discipline, and teamwork in carrying out each discussion, drill, and simulation with dedication and a genuine desire to learn.

May the knowledge and skills gained from this training serve as a strong foundation in fulfilling our shared responsibility of protecting lives, reducing disaster risks, and building a safer, more prepared, and more resilient Barangay 76.

Day 2 | 3-Day Capacity Building for Members of the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (BDRRMC)

Participants actively engaged in a hands-on Hazard Mapping Workshop, where they were divided into two groups to identify and map the major hazards affecting the barangay. Group 1 developed the Flood Hazard Map, while Group 2 prepared the Fire Hazard Map, drawing from the communityโ€™s actual experiences and local knowledge.

Following the workshop, participants reviewed and accomplished the Community Risk Assessment (CRA) to further assess the identified hazards and strengthen their understanding of disaster risk reduction and management.

The sessions were facilitated by Francis Anthony A. Salvedia and Allan G. Arcallana, whose expertise guided the participants throughout the dayโ€™s activities. We commend everyone for their active participation, collaboration, and commitment to building a safer and more resilient community.
