SCHOOL-BASED DEWORMING ACTIVITY
Led by: Nurse Rizza Puyat Deliva
In line with the Department of Health and Department of Education’s health program, our school successfully conducted the School-Based Deworming Activity today for Kindergarten and Grade 1 learners.
In the photo, our very own School Nurse, Rizza P. Deliva, is seen personally administering deworming tablets to our learners with care and patience. The activity was done in an orderly and child-friendly manner to ensure that every pupil feels safe and comfortable.
Why is Deworming Important for Children?
Deworming is a simple but very important health intervention for school-aged children. Intestinal worms can cause:
- Poor nutrient absorption – leading to malnutrition and low energy
- Anemia – which can affect concentration and learning
- Stunted growth and frequent absences due to sickness
- Lower academic performance because children feel weak or distracted
By giving deworming tablets twice a year, we help children stay healthy, grow properly, and focus better in class. A healthy child is a better learner.
Is Deworming Safe?
Yes, it is safe.
The deworming tablets given are approved by the DOH and WHO. They have been tested and are proven effective in eliminating common intestinal worms. Side effects are very rare and mild, such as slight stomach discomfort, which usually goes away on its own.
Nurse Rizza ensured that proper screening, dosage, and observation were followed before and after administration to guarantee the safety and well-being of all learners.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Nurse Rizza P. Deliva for her dedication in taking care of our pupils’ health. Her compassion and professionalism truly make a big difference in creating a healthy and safe learning environment.
Let us continue to support programs that protect our children’s health — because healthy kids learn better! 💊📚
