In celebration of International Women’s Month we honor the contributions of women. Women who have shaped the course of humanity and turned the wheels of history, from those who revolutionized the myriad fields of human knowledge , to those who have led revolutionary social change, and the ordinary day to day women who live quieter but nevertheless impactful lives, all of whom are worthy of respect, love, and admiration.
To celebrate women is to acknowledge the social realities and political conditions that they experience, in the face of discrimination, oppression, and misogyny that still pervades contemporary society. As law students, it is critical that we recognize such issues and continue to not only fight for the rights of women but also to rectify such negative sentiments and behaviors from within our ranks.
From international advocates such as Rosa Luxemburg and Alexandra Kollontai to local leaders such as Gabriela Silang, Nieves Fernandez, June Keithley-Castro, Jazmine Aguisanda-Jerusalem, and Josefa Llanes Escoda,✨𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐞 𝐤𝐚, 𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢 𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠✨ encapsulates not only women’s grit, resilience, and creativity but also their relentless fight for liberation and equality.
