Ang OWWA Regional Welfare Office VIII ay buong-pusong nag-aanyaya sa ating mga magigiting na marino sa buong Eastern Visayas na sumali sa LIKHAng Marino Business Plan Competition, isang pambansang inisyatibo ng Department of Migrant Workers – National Reintegration Center for OFWs (DMW-NRCO).

𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗘 𝗡𝗢𝗪: Saksihan ang paglagda ng Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) sa pagitan ng Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) at Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), sa pangunguna ni OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne “PY” Caunan, ngayong araw, Hunyo 7, sa OFW Global Center sa Hong Kong.
Layunin ng partnership na ito na higit pang palakasin ang mga programa para sa ating mga OFWs at kanilang pamilya sa larangan ng upskilling, re-skilling, skills training, scholarship opportunities, livelihood, entrepreneurship, at employment support upang mas maging handa sila sa mga oportunidad sa loob at labas ng bansa.
Kabilang din sa mga layunin ng kasunduan ang pagpapalakas ng reintegration programs para sa mga returning OFWs, pagpapadali ng referral at skills certification mechanisms, pag-aangkop ng mga training program sa pangangailangan ng labor market, at pagpapalawak ng access sa scholarship at financial assistance programs para sa mga OFWs at kanilang pamilya.
Abangan ang pormal na paglagda ng kasunduan na magsisilbing mahalagang hakbang tungo sa mas marami pang oportunidad para sa pag-aaral, pagsasanay, at kabuhayan ng ating mga modern-day heroes.

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Regional Welfare Office VIII successfully concluded the Migrant Workers Day 2026 celebration at the Biliran Civic Center, Naval, Biliran.

The event brought together OFWs, their families, partner agencies, and local government officials in a day filled with meaningful programs, well-deserved recognition, and a renewed commitment to the welfare of every overseas Filipino worker and their loved ones.

The celebration was graced by key officials whose presence underscored the government's unwavering support for the country's migrant workers. OWWA RWO VIII OIC-Regional Director Arlene F. Salloman, Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Regional Director Atty. Lovely Aissa B. Velayo-Agliam, Eastern Visayas Federation of OHWs Regional President Norman Victor M. Ordiz, and Biliran Provincial Governor Hon. Rogelio J. Espina each delivered messages of solidarity and support, reaffirming the shared commitment of every sector to the welfare of the region's migrant workers.

The day's program featured a series of activities that honored the contributions and sacrifices of OFWs and migrant workers' service, the awarding of financial assistance, the formal recognition of OWWA Scholars, an interpretative dance competition, and the awarding of prizes to deserving participants.

The Migrant Workers Day celebration serves as an annual reaffirmation of OWWA's mission to provide comprehensive welfare programs, social protection, and reintegration support to Overseas Filipino Workers and their families across the region.

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Regional Welfare Office VIII officially opens the Migrant Workers Day 2026 celebration today at the Biliran Civic Center, Naval, Biliran, a day set aside to honor the hard work, resilience, and sacrifices of Overseas Filipino Workers who continue to uplift families and communities across the country and around the world.

This celebration is a tribute to our modern-day heroes who carry the weight of their families' future on their shoulders, often from thousands of miles away. Through the programs and services OWWA extends to OFWs and their loved ones, the agency remains steadfast in its mission of providing support, protection, and opportunities where they are needed most.

OWWA Region VIll Joins the Micro-Agrikabuhayan Para sa OFWs Program in Tacloban City Championing sustainable livelihood and economic empowerment for Overseas Filipino Workers and their families, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Regional Welfare Office VIlI participated in the Micro-Agrikabuhayan Para sa OFWs Program held on May 26-28, 2026, at ETSU Hotel, Tacloban City.

Representing OWWA RWO VIII were Family Welfare Officer Ms. Cara Marie L. Abit and Mr. Zoren C. Deguerio, who joined fellow participants and stakeholders in exploring pathways toward meaningful and lasting livelihood opportunities for OFWs and their dependents.

Among the key highlights of the program was an in-depth orientation on the Tulong PUSO Program, covering its objectives, implementation process, requirements, and the forms of assistance available to qualified beneficiaries. The discussions further broadened to include financial empowerment and entrepreneurship, equipping participants with actionable knowledge and strategies for developing sustainable livelihood initiatives grounded in the agriculture sector.

OWWA Region VIll's participation in the activity stands as a reminder of the agency's ongoing effort to ensure that OFWs and their families have access to the resources, knowledge, and opportunities.

Bringing essential financial knowledge and values formation directly to the community, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Regional Office VIII conducted a Financial Literacy and Values Re-Orientation Seminar on May 25, 2026, at Barangay Poblacion, District II, Babatngon, Leyte.

The activity was graced by OHD Officer Sir Adrian Paul Espares of Babatngon, who delivered the opening message and set the tone for a day of meaningful engagement and community-centered service. Resource speakers Ms. Ermalyn Darang, Technical Support Staff of DTI Negosyo Center Tacloban, and Ms. Joan Presiguel, Trade Industry Development Analyst of DTI Leyte Negosyo Center, facilitated the discussions, imparting practical financial management skills and reinforcing the values essential to sustainable household and livelihood development.

The seminar served as more than an educational undertaking. It was a reaffirmation of OWWA Region VIII's mandate to address the holistic needs of Overseas Filipino Workers and their families, recognizing that financial preparedness is as critical as any program or benefit the agency extends.
