President Bongbong Marcos underscored the critical role of innovation in national development during the Presidential Filipinnovation Awards (PFA) National Competition Awarding Ceremony.

Highlighting groundbreaking local entries—such as the University of the Philippines' Immersive Gamification Technology System (ImGTS) for pediatric rehabilitation and Pili AdheSeal Inc.'s internationally recognized Pili Seal—the President emphasized that government support is vital for transforming grassroots ideas into scalable, real-world solutions.

To accelerate commercialization and prevent promising inventions from stalling, the administration has increased the winner support package to a PHP 3 million cash grant paired with PHP 1 million in expert mentorship.

Framing innovation as a core pillar of the Philippine Development Plan 2023–2028, President Marcos urged local scientists, researchers, and creators to partner with the government in tackling systemic challenges including food security, climate resilience, and energy supply.

President Quirino is strengthening barangay-based crime prevention efforts following recent shooting incidents in the municipality, Municipal Administrator Florante Tongo Jr. said during the Sultan Kudarat Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) meeting on September 2.

Speaking on behalf of Mayor Katrina Sandigan, Tongo said municipal officials immediately met with barangay leaders and security forces following the killing of a barangay captain in Barangay Bannawag to discuss measures aimed at preventing similar incidents.

The municipality is working with its 19 barangays to strengthen the reporting of security concerns and information sharing with authorities, while Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams (BPATs) have been mobilized to support community monitoring and report suspicious activities.

Tongo said the municipality continues to coordinate closely with the Philippine National Police and the Philippine Army, with measures including enhanced border patrol operations and random checkpoints in key areas.

He added that the municipality is also improving communication systems through the distribution of handheld radios to support faster coordination among barangays, responders, and security forces during emergencies and security-related incidents.
