Mount Mogao fire: a lesson ignored

The most recent mountain fire on April 14, 2026 that swallowed our famous Mount Mogao is no longer just a simple environmental problem, but an issue of moral responsibility. Everybody knows how detrimental it could be to the environment and to nearby communities if we keep burning our mountains, and yet we keep doing it all the same. Is it carelessness, or simply ignoring our God-given natural resources?

Mountain fires or forest fires can cause serious damage, whether they happen naturally or are caused by humans. In Mount Mogao, the possibility of intentional burning makes the situation even more alarming. This highlights the need for better prevention and stronger protection measures.

The fire on Mount Mogao is a warning for all of us. If we do not act now, we risk losing more than just forests, we risk our future. It shows how fragile our natural resources have become due to human carelessness. It raises important questions about responsibility and awareness.

Prevention is always better than reacting after the damage has already been done.

[Just In] Excellence and Consistency: TVL Class sustains 100% NCII passing rate

The TVL- Caregiving Program of Cagubatan National High School has once again proven its excellence, as 21 members of the TVL-Caregiving Class of School Year 2025-2026 achieved 100% passing rate in their National Certificate II (NCII) assessment conducted on March 5-6, 2026 at Northskills Polytechnic College Inc., Betag, La Trinidad, Benguet.

This achievement has sustained the consistent 100% passing performance of the program in the last four years. Class Adviser Ms. Bella Poking gladly shared the secret to this consistency and excellent performance by the TVL-Caregiving program. "I guess it's the dedication of students that helped them the most. They were focused on their lessons, and they showed love for the Caregiving profession", Ms. Poking told the campus press.

Moreover, Ms. Lorrie Lang-et, a member of the class shared her insights about their performance. "We worked as a team, helping each other get through the drills and practices. We didn't want anyone be left behind", Ms. Lang-et told the campus press.

School Principal, Ms. Teresa P. Ngilac extended her congratulations to the TVL-Class for their outstanding performance. "You should be very proud of yourself. All your hard work and sacrifices have come to a fruitful result. Congratulations, and keep making us proud", Principal Ngilac announced in the school's Facebook Messenger Group Chat (GC).

The class members will be receiving their national certificates from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and will be officially awarded during their graduation ceremonies on March 30, 2026.

It's the journey, not the destination: Our alumna, Eendirah is a living testament to this.

Endearing Eendirah: Winning Crowns and Hearts

Beauty and brains seem to be the most perfect combination of a woman aiming for pageants. For if you are beautiful and sharp-witted, it is guaranteed that the crown is yours. However, Eendirah proves time and time again that it takes more than just face and intelligence to win over the hearts of people.

Eendirah Jimenez Galino, a 20-year-old Tourism student from Tadian, Mountain Province, has become the face of representation for MPSU in the 2025 MR. & MS. CARASUC, and ended up winning it. At the same time, she won the title for Bangan di Tadian 2025 and went on to represent Tadian in the Mr. And Ms. Mountain Province 2025. Furthermore, she has earned a first runner-up position in Anap di Bangan ya Gatan di Cagubatan, and another first runner-up titles in two other esteemed competitionsโ€”the Search for Lantern Queen and the Search for HMTM, a pageant for a cause. As decorated as she is in pageantry, Eendirah is also an academic achiever. Having graduated as a valedictorian from senior high school at Cagubatan National High School, she proceeded to maintain a position as a Presidentโ€™s Lister for both semesters of Academic Year 2023-2024 and 2024-2025. A true beauty and brain in her own right.

As a young girl, Eendirah never thought of becoming like the people she watches on television. She was a โ€œsimple girl with simple dreamsโ€. And with the crowns and glam, and just how far she has come from that simplicity, deep down, Eendirah still carries the hopes of that little girl in her heart. And this is exactly what makes her more than just a beauty with brains. She is a woman in pursuit of both tourism and pageantry driven by a purpose.

โ€œMy first dream was to become someone who makes a difference and who inspires people, an educator specifically.โ€ She states that growing up, she has come to realize many things that changed her choices and decisions in life. โ€œToday, as a tourism student and a beauty queen, I am still pursuing that same purpose, just in a different form. Tourism allows me to promote culture and community, while pageantry gives me a platform to use my voice and if asked about pursuing another career path, my answer would be no because I believe dreams evolve, but purpose remains the same.

Eendirah associates herself with the word โ€œtrailblazerโ€, believing that similarly, she is curious, ready to take new and unfamiliar paths. Always challenging herself by getting out of her comfort zone, always open to changes and opportunities, remaining confident, persistent and full of grit. She sees failures as a stepping stone for growth. โ€œI take failure as my motivation to rise stronger and bolder. Every mistake counts but what matters the most is how we use those mistakes to change for the betterment of ourselves because those failures are lessons and as a woman, my mistakes and failures shaped me for who I am today.โ€

Eendirah is a model student that many would admire, I myself am an admirer. From cheering her on as she wins the crown for MS. CARASUC 2025, to watching her lead performances during school activities. There is that confidence that emanates through her smile and the way she carries herself, itโ€™s contagious. Because there is a difference between someone who is good at what they do, and someone who is passionate about what they do. See, passion makes a difference. It counts when you actually love what you are doing. And she has exactly that. Eendirah is the personification of grace and beauty rooted in culture and tradition, so whenever you look at her, there is only room for admiration.

Eendirah admits to struggling with balancing school activities and other extra curriculars, being a student at the same time a pageant girl. She said that there are days when it gets overwhelming. โ€œBut Iโ€™ve learned to prioritize and manage my time effectively. As a tourism student and a pageant queen, Iโ€™m used to juggling multiple responsibilities, but itโ€™s not always easy. I make sure to take time for myself, focus on my goals, and surround myself with people who support me. This helps me overcome stress because these are my responsibilities and it is all about finding balance and making the most of every moment.

When asked what message and advice for the girls out there that dreams of pursuing the same career as she is aiming for, Eendirah emphasized the power of believing. She quoted, believe in yourself before you expect the world to believe in you.

โ€œThat is how I exactly overcome judgement and criticism. To the ladies out there, remember that pageantry is not just about beauty โ€” it is about inspiring, making a difference, and performing with heart. Always invest in your growth and work on your confidence. Most importantly, never lose your authenticity just to fit into someone elseโ€™s standards.โ€ As a beauty queen, she dreams of inspiring young girls to see their worth beyond appearance. She continues to emphasize that beauty especially, physical appearance should not be a standard that hinders us to achieve our dreams. As a tourism student, Eendirah dreams of promoting not only destinations in our locality but also to foster cultural exchange in order to sustain traditions despite modernization and globalization. Eendirah remains inspired by her family, mentors, and every young girl who looks up to her, and knowing that someone might find courage through her journey keeps her going.

โ€œBe the queen of yourself. One day, youโ€™ll be the queen of others.โ€ -Eendirah Jimenez Galino

Members of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) from Cagubatan National High School actively participated in the 21st GSP Provincial Camp held in Chatol, Lingoy, Barlig, Mountain Province from February 27 to March 1, 2026.

The school delegation was composed of 19 Girl Scouts organized into three patrols: the Gumamela Patrol led by Aizher Carem Mangusan, the Kamaulaw Patrol led by Aubesrie Patiti, and the Camellia Patrol led by Jerlyn Boyongan. The scouts successfully completed tasks across six activity stations, followed by an exciting obstacle course, where the zipline became the highlight of the day. In the evening, a pageant was held and Yzaniel Cayuhan representing Cagubatan National High School, proudly earned the First Runner-Up title.

On the third and final day, the scouts first participated in a service mass, fostering reflection and unity. This was followed by the awarding ceremony, where the Cagubatan NHS troops received a total of seven awards:

[Today] Fire prevention awareness campain reaches CNHS

Today, February 24 an Information Education and Communication Campaign (IEC) was conducted at the Cagubatan National High School quadrangle by FIRE OFFICER 2 FREDDIE ABIBICO from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) - Tadian. The IEC was conducted to raise awareness on fire prevention not only among students but also amazing ng teachers and staff of the school.

FO2 ABIBICO pointed out two main causes of house fire in the locality, which are electrical faults, and mindless cooking. He also encouraged the students and teachers to always check electrical connections and gas ranges at home and at school.

As informed by FO2 ABIBICO, the fire prevention campaign is one of the activities in line with the celebration of the Fire Prevention Month (March 2026). Furthermore, FO2 ABIBICO mentioned that consistent reminders on fire prevention is very important for everyone not to cause any unfortunate accidents in their homes and in the school campuses.

A certificate of appreciation was awarded to FO2 ABIBICO by School Principal I Teresa P. Ngilac, in recognition of his efforts and time to share his expertise with the students.

[Update] CNHS concludes student immersion

The school concluded this year's Work Immersion Program for Grade 12 students last Friday, February 13, 2026 through an exit conference led by School Principal I Teresa P. Ngilac at the Tadian Municipal Capitol, Tadian, Mountain Province.

The exit conference attended by the school head marked the last day of work immersion for Grade 12-HUMSS students assigned at various offices of LGU-Tadian, and PNP-Tadian MPS. Earlier on February 6, 2026 the exit conference of Grade 12-TVL students assigned at the barangay health centers of Banaao, Cagubatan, and Pandayan was participated by their class adviser Bella L. Poking. Both Grade 12-HUMSS and Grade 12-TVL started their immersion last January 12, 2026, with nearly a month of work immersion experience.

The work immersion program is a requirement for all Grade 12 students under the K to 12 Curriculum to experience actual work processes in governement offices or private establishments for purposes of learning. According to Kristine Joy Damulo, a Grade 12-TVL student, the work immersion has helped her improve her communication skills. "Aside from my learnings in the actual caregiving duties, my experiences with the patients in the clinic have helped me to talk more carefully and less harshly", Damulo told the school press. Meanwhile Jaslyn Paquito of Grade 12-HUMSS shared her experiences during their immersion at the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Offuce (MSWDO). "I learned that there are things that should be kept confidential in the office, and that shouldn't be known in public", Paquito shared.

The exit conference included the giving of certificates of recognition to the host offices, as well as dialogues between the offices concerned. The work immersion program was planned earlier through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed by the school management and the Municipal Government of Tadian.
