Tagana-an Central Elementary School is a complete central elementary school in the District of Tagana-an and the 3rd class Municipality of Tagana-an in the 2nd Congressional District of the Province of Surigao del Norte. TCES is a school manned by a principal with Twenty-four (24) elementary nationally funded teachers, one(1) nationally funded Preschool teacher, one (1) Service Contracting Schem
e Preschool teacher and one (1) School board teacher handling Preschool. During the World War 2 era, the locality of Tagana-an was under the Municipality of Placer and pupils went there for schooling. The school’s enrolment continues to rise year after year until it was named Tagana-an Central Elementary School when Tagana-an became a district after its separation from Sison District. The school has originally acquired a very wide area ranging to almost 4 hectares. But due to the opening of Tagana-an National High School formerly ASA Barangay High School , TCES now has the area of 24 850 sq. meters or 2.4850 hectares of land
To date almost one third of the school is used for academic purpose. There are 7 buildings with 20 academic classrooms ,3 classrooms used as administration building and other ancillary services rooms. The remaining two third of the campus quarter was utilized as laboratory for agriculture and serves as an income generating project area. The school is considered one of the most performing schools in our division and in the regional level as well.Recently the school passed the APPES evaluation with a very satisfactory rating. Added to that, the school has been recognized for being the 2011 3rd placer in the Highest Resources Generated,Regional Champion for SAPAGKAT Evaluation in 2008, Regional Best Brigada Implementer for Exceptional Category in 2009 and also recognized as highly performing school in the NAT. Nonetheless it is also considered as very conducive place for learning. Classrooms are well structured and additional fixtures and furnishing are fixed to answer the needs of the learner and to make their stay in school convenient and welcoming.Although the school has insufficient school facilities especially in terms of buildings, equipments , ICT facilities and multi media still the school preformed better in academic. School’s constant developments were made through the concerted efforts of the teachers, pupils, parents and local stakeholders who jointly venture to achieve quality and excellence. Monthly “boluntaryo” was hold to maintain cleanliness and beautification with its nice landscaping and a very wide area where some of the Division event were held here especially scouting activities. Various seminars were also done in school. Just recently, SURNECO, BFP, DBP personnel held seminar to pupils in school. In terms of academic aspect, our pupils were showing their best in both academic and co-curricular activities participated. Pupils garnered various awards in the various activities joined both in the school, division and region. Pupils’ values, skills and talents were also homed. Allowance for active participation in different auxiliary activities and services were considered. Exposure to activities like BSP, GSP, SPG, MTAP, Science clubbing, DLC and others were active and well organized in school. With the tedious effort of the advisers of the different clubs/ organizations the pupils demonstrated their full potentials productively. Pupils were also exposed to sports activity. During Friday pupils will have to join in the interest day activities .With the active involvement of children to sports, the school was able to produce regional winners for gymnastics, running and lawn tennis. The school on its mission to produce effective learners provides facilities for them to use. Some of the facilities available in school are: the functional school library, HE laboratory, Nursery and Garden House, School Clinic, the Nayong Pilipino, botanical garden and playground readily available for pupils use. The classroom - pupil ratio is 1:1 as well as the chairs and tables. The textbook pupil ratio is 1:2. Seventeen (17) classrooms have shared comfort rooms. Four (4) classrooms have no comfort room yet. The school has no Science room, industrial arts room, computers units and computer room, AVR room, faculty room and storeroom. The perimeter fence was almost complete but not fully having finishing and about 200 meters incomplete. School buildings also needs repair. There are three buildings that needs major repair. The old home economics building, Grade II-B and Grade I buildings. The principal’s office, Grade II-A, Grade III buildings, Grade VI and HE buildings need some minor repairs.
