🚨 When disaster strikes, every second counts.

But for persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), leaving is never as simple as walking out.

Who decides when to evacuate? Where should they go? What resources are needed to move them safely? 🏃♂🏢

For BJMP Jail Supt. Crystalene Gonzales, the answers should come from data, science and the specific risks faced by each jail facility. 📊

That idea led to ResilientJailsPH, a disaster-risk intelligence and decision support platform that assesses hazards, vulnerabilities and capacities of BJMP facilities, helping wardens identify where risks are highest and what actions need to be prioritized.

From earthquake-prone areas 🌏 to flood-affected facilities 🌧 and volcanic hazards 🌋, the platform recognizes one crucial reality:

👉 Disaster preparedness cannot be one-size-fits-all.

Now launched in Central Visayas, ResilientJailsPH is expected to be replicated in BJMP regional offices nationwide, putting risk information where it matters most: in the hands of those who have to make the call when lives are on the line.

💻 The initiative also reflects President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s push for a more digital, connected and responsive government, where data and technology help agencies make better decisions and deliver more effective public service.
