The Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh), through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA), is strengthening efforts to establish a participatory guarantee and certification system for Ubi Kinampay producers.

Led by Governor Aris Aumentado, the initiative seeks to develop clear standards and coordinated procedures for the production, processing, quality assurance, packaging, and marketing of Boholโ€™s traditional purple yam.

The training on the TWG-IVCA of Ubi Kinampay for the Ubi Participatory Guarantee/Certification System, held on August 27 at Level 007, Tagbilaran City, brought stakeholders together to discuss the draft certification system, the proposed Technical Working Group, Good Agricultural Practices, food safety regulations, and licensing requirements.

This initiative supports building a competitive, value-added, export-ready Ubi Kinampay industry and empowers farmers through stronger collaboration with local government units and relevant agencies.

As the Philippinesโ€™ first and only UNESCO Global Geopark Regenerative Island, Bohol continues to advance sustainable agricultural development while protecting and promoting its natural and cultural heritage, aligned with the Capitolโ€™s Strategic Change Agenda and its focus on Climate-Smart Agriculture and Fisheries.

Bohol continues to advance local economic growth and celebrate community culture through strategic enterprise initiatives.

This was after the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh), under the leadership of Gov. Aris Aumentado and through the Bohol Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office (BEDIPO), concluded the Bantawan celebration on August 14 at the Tagbilaran City Old Airport as part of the 2026 Sandugo sa Bohol festivities.

Themed โ€œPagkaon, Panag-amigo, ug Kultura!โ€, the event celebrated Boholano food, friendship, culture, and community. It was organized in partnership with the Bohol Integrated Development Foundation, Inc. (BIDEF), participating concessionaires, and community partners.

From July 3 to August 14, Bantawan recorded approximately 183,000 visitors and a 6.4% increase in average total sales compared with last year, reflecting stronger participation and economic activity.

The culmination recognized the Top Grosser Awardees, namely Melchorโ€™s Lechon Station, Seaview Grill Restaurants, Sweet Vibes, Maricel Sweet Corn, Ilocana Food Hub, Mang Jhose Halo-Halo, and Pick and Choose. Heneroso Acibo, president of the Tagbilaran Airport Food Concessionaires Association (TAFCA), received a Special Award, while certificates of appreciation were given to cleaners and waste segregators who helped maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the venue.

This economic achievement underscores PGBhโ€™s commitment to collaborative programs that promote culture, tourism, and micro-enterprises under the Strategic Governance Roadmap.

Moreover, the initiative directly supports the conservation and sustainable development goals of the Bohol Island Geopark, the Philippinesโ€™ first UNESCO Global Geopark.

The Bantawan is part of this yearโ€™s Sandugo sa Bohol celebration, organized under the leadership of BEDIPO. The province-wide celebration runs from June to August 2026, with activities held at various venues across the Bohol Island Geopark.

Bohol continues to strengthen its digital infrastructure to drive sustainable economic growth and technological progress.

This was after the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh), under the leadership of Gov. Aris Aumentado, through the Bohol Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (BEDIPO), held the Internet Service Providers Roundtable Discussion at the Pre-Session Hall on August 5, 2026.

Chaired by BEDIPO Officer-in-Charge Jude Bernard Guieb, the meeting established the rationale for resolving Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) concerns quickly to accelerate expansion rollouts.

Discussions covered infrastructure, coverage, and internet speed impacting business process outsourcing (BPO) companies, households, and work-from-home agents.

Provincial Administrator Asteria Caberte encouraged service providers to coordinate directly with the provincial government, stating, feel free to get help from us, because the jobs you create will help the province.

PGBh highlighted efforts to foster rural digital creativity and announced its participation in the International ITBPM Summit this September to invite more BPO locators.

During the updates, Globe reported LTE coverage across Bohol, 5G coverage averaging 155 Mbps in Baclayon, Dauis, Loboc, Panglao, and Tagbilaran, planned 5G expansion to Ubay next year, and its G Starlink cellular messaging service.

PLDT shared that 60% to 70% of Bohol barangays are connected, with only Pitogo Island remaining unconnected before planned expansion, and affirmed its readiness to support BPO growth outside Tagbilaran City.

Smart announced that a majority of local government units now have 5G connectivity alongside its post services and products.

Converge detailed its pure fiber connections for homes and enterprises, client digital solutions, and its unique investment in the Bifrost Cable System directly connected to the United States.

This initiative reinforces the strategic governance goals of the PGBh and supports the sustainable development framework of the Bohol Island UNESCO Global Geopark.
