The Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh), through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA), is strengthening efforts to establish a participatory guarantee and certification system for Ubi Kinampay producers.
Led by Governor Aris Aumentado, the initiative seeks to develop clear standards and coordinated procedures for the production, processing, quality assurance, packaging, and marketing of Boholโs traditional purple yam.
The training on the TWG-IVCA of Ubi Kinampay for the Ubi Participatory Guarantee/Certification System, held on August 27 at Level 007, Tagbilaran City, brought stakeholders together to discuss the draft certification system, the proposed Technical Working Group, Good Agricultural Practices, food safety regulations, and licensing requirements.
This initiative supports building a competitive, value-added, export-ready Ubi Kinampay industry and empowers farmers through stronger collaboration with local government units and relevant agencies.
As the Philippinesโ first and only UNESCO Global Geopark Regenerative Island, Bohol continues to advance sustainable agricultural development while protecting and promoting its natural and cultural heritage, aligned with the Capitolโs Strategic Change Agenda and its focus on Climate-Smart Agriculture and Fisheries.
