DTI Bohol's site visit to ACE Farms in Mabini, a proposed SSF beneficiary, turned into more than just an inspection, it became a meaningful exchange of ideas over cups of Liberica coffee.
The discussion with industry champion M'Rey BumAmo highlighted not only the farm’s potential, but also the shared commitment to strengthen local communities through the Shared Service Facility (SSF) program. Moments like these show that beyond assessments and proposals, real progress is driven by collaboration, insight, and genuine connections on the ground.

14/04/2026

As part of DTI Bohol’s sustained commitment to strengthening the bamboo sector, policy support remains a critical intervention. In this regard, a provincial bamboo ordinance is currently being crafted to provide comprehensive and strategic support across the entire bamboo value chain and its key subsectors.

The proposed ordinance is anchored on the Localized Bohol Bamboo Roadmap, which was formulated through a multi-stakeholder workshop facilitated by DTI Bohol on October 30, 2022. This roadmap was subsequently enhanced and harmonized through the integration of complementary plans and strategies developed by private sector stakeholders, thereby ensuring a more inclusive, coherent, and industry-responsive development framework for the province’s bamboo sector.

A central objective of the ordinance is to harmonize and strengthen coordination among all actors in the bamboo value chain—from growers and farmers, to processors, traders, and retailers, up to the end buyers and markets. This integrated approach seeks to improve efficiency, ensure traceability, and promote inclusivity across all stages of production and distribution, ultimately fostering a more organized, competitive, and sustainable bamboo industry in the province.

The ordinance is anchored on three key components: environmental sustainability, income generation, and economic development. These components collectively underscore the dual objective of promoting ecological balance while simultaneously enhancing livelihood opportunities and driving inclusive and sustainable growth within the bamboo industry.

Special thanks are extended to the SP Committee on Agriculture, chaired by Board Member Lucille Lagunay, for its invaluable support and leadership in advancing this initiative.
