𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲

The Bohol Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) convened in a Full Council Meeting held on May 28, 2026, at the Ceremonial Hall, Provincial Capitol, Tagbilaran City, Bohol. It was presided by Provincial Administrator Asteria C. Caberte. Representing DILG Bohol Provincial Director Johnjoan A. Mende, Cluster Head Regina Gina G. Bastes, Officer-in-Charge, joined fellow council members and stakeholders in discussing key DRRM concerns affecting the province.

During the meeting, LGOO II Meah Hecell Nisnisan-Genovia, DILG Bohol DRRM Focal Person, presented significant DILG updates and issuances, particularly the DILG Advisory on the Mitigation and Preparedness Measures in Anticipation of the El Niño Phenomenon, emphasizing the importance of early preparedness and coordinated actions to minimize its potential impacts on communities.

A major milestone of the meeting was the approval of the Enhanced Bohol Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan (LDRRMP) for 2026–2031, a comprehensive roadmap that will guide the province's disaster resilience initiatives for the next six years. DILG Bohol significantly contributed to the formulation and review of the plan through active participation in a series of technical discussions and planning workshops, ensuring that the framework remains responsive, inclusive, and aligned with national DRRM policies.

The Bohol PDRRMC continues to build a safer, more prepared, and disaster-resilient Bohol through strengthened partnerships, informed decision-making, and shared commitment to protecting lives, livelihoods, and communities.

𝐁𝐨𝐡𝐨𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐬 81st 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦

The Provincial Government of Bohol led the 81st Commemoration of the Liberation of Bohol on May 25, 2025, at Plaza Rizal Park.

Anchored on the theme, “Paggunita sa Nakaraan, Pagpapahalaga sa Kasaysayan, Pagtaguyod sa Kinabukasan”, the activity honored the bravery and sacrifices of Boholanos who fought for the island’s liberation during World War II.

The program opened with a wreath-laying ceremony attended by representatives from national government agencies, local government units, veterans’ groups, and other stakeholders. Representatives from DILG Bohol, led by Cluster Head Regina Gina Bastes, joined fellow participants in paying tribute to the fallen heroes. A 21-gun salute and water salute followed, symbolizing honor and gratitude for the veterans’ courage and sacrifice.

The ceremony also featured an inspirational message from Brig. Gen. Joseph G. Sevilla, who emphasized the importance of preserving the legacy of heroism while promoting unity and hope for future generations.

In joining the commemoration, DILG Bohol reaffirmed its commitment to fostering unity, promoting good governance, and upholding the values of freedom and democracy in service to the people of Bohol.

Ang ika-48 nga ASEAN Summit nga ipahigayon sa Mactan, Cebu karong Mayo 7–8 kay usa ka higayon sa garbo ug oportunidad alang sa tibuok Sugbo, dili lamang kini alang sa Dakbayan sa Lapu-Lapu isip host, kon dili alang usab sa matag dakbayan ug lungsod sa Metro Cebu. Ang pagdawat ug pag-host sa usa ka dako ug internasyonal nga kalihokan sama niini dili malikayan nga adunay mga temporaryong kausaban.

Ang mga organizers nagpatuman og mga lakang nga gikinahanglan ug angay lamang ipatuman, subay sa standard international security protocols nga gigamit usab sa matag nasud nga nag-abiabi og mga lider sa kalibutan.

Apil sa maong mga lakang ang pagsira sa pipila ka mga dalan ug mga kausaban sa lihok sa mga tawo ug sakyanan nga posibleng maghatag og temporaryong kakulian. Kining mga kontroladong lakang mahimo usab makaapekto sa operasyon sa mga establisimyento ug negosyo.

Ang mga lokal nga panggamhanan (LGUs) sa Metro Cebu nagtinabangay uban sa Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) ug Philippine National Police (PNP) aron masiguro nga ang maong mga kakulian mapugngan ug makontrol sa labing maayo ug organisadong pamaagi.

Busa, kami nagahangyo sa pagsabot ug pasensya sa publiko.

Ang tanang security arrangements alang sa ASEAN Summit gituyo ug gipahimutang aron mapanalipdan dili lamang ang atong mga bisitang lider kon dili usab ang kaayohan ug kaluwasan sa atong mga komunidad.

Ang atong mga kaubanan sa AFP ug PNP kay gipang-deploy alang sa kalihokan alang sa kaluwasan sa tanan.

𝐋𝐆𝐔 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚, 𝐃𝐈𝐋𝐆 𝐁𝐨𝐡𝐨𝐥 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐌𝐃𝐌 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬

The Municipality of Corella, Bohol, through its Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) and MLGOO Josie M. Montes, successfully conducted a two-day Training on the Management of the Dead and Missing Persons (MDM) on April 14–15, 2025, at the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) Session Hall.

The activity aimed to strengthen the capacity of the Local MDM Team and partner agencies in effectively managing fatalities and missing persons during disasters and emergencies.

The training brought together members of the Local MDM Team composed of municipal LGU functionaries, punong barangays, barangay representatives, and partner agencies to build their capacity in handling one of the most sensitive aspects of disaster response, managing human remains and missing individuals with dignity, efficiency, and proper coordination. It was facilitated with the support of DILG Bohol Province, which provided technical assistance through LGOO V Jun Arcy O. Pacleb and LGOO II Meah Hecell Nisnisan-Genovia, who guided the participants through the different modules.

Throughout the two-day session, participants engaged in a series of interactive discussions and practical exercises. Key topics included the legal framework and policies governing MDM, its role within the broader disaster response system, the integration of protocols under the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management System (PDRRMS) and Incident Command System (ICS), final arrangement of the deceased, reporting and verification of missing persons, and providing support to bereaved families.

A highlight of the training was the hands-on simulation exercises, where participants practiced proper procedures in handling and documenting human remains. These activities reinforced the importance of accuracy, respect for cultural practices, and strict adherence to established protocols.

With initiatives like this, the Municipality of Corella, with the support of DILG Bohol, continues to take concrete steps toward building a more prepared and resilient community—one that safeguards the living while upholding the dignity of those lost in times of crisis.

In support of this observance, all Local Government Units (LGUs) are encouraged to actively promote public awareness and implement meaningful activities, programs, and events aligned with the theme and objectives of the celebration. These initiatives aim to emphasize the vital role of literature in preserving indigenous perspectives, shaping our national identity, and fostering unity among diverse communities through shared heritage, knowledge, and creative expression.
