Today, Bohol celebrates its 172nd Foundation Anniversary, marking a significant chapter in its history: its establishment as a separate province from Cebu on July 22, 1854. The occasion serves as a tribute to the generations of Boholanos whose resilience, industry, and love for the province have shaped Bohol into what it is today.

More than a commemoration of its founding, Bohol Day is a celebration of the province’s rich cultural heritage, remarkable achievements, and enduring spirit.

From its historic landmarks and vibrant traditions to the accomplishments of its people, Bohol continues to draw strength from its past while embracing opportunities for growth and development.

As the province marks 172 years of progress, Boholanos are reminded of their shared history and collective responsibility to help build a future that is resilient, sustainable, and inclusive for generations to come.

𝗣𝗩𝗔𝗢 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 "𝗟𝗼𝗹𝗼 𝗚𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴," 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵
The Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) officially introduced 𝗟𝗼𝗹𝗼 𝗚𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, its first-ever official mascot, during the flag-raising ceremony held at the PVAO Compound on 20 July 2026.

Named after the Filipino word "𝗚𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴," meaning bravery, Lolo Giting symbolizes the courage, wisdom, resilience, and enduring spirit of the Filipino veteran. Designed as a warm and approachable grandfather figure, he aims to bridge the gap between generations by making veterans' stories, values, and legacy more engaging and relatable, particularly to children and the youth.

The launch forms part of the 𝗞𝗮𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗽 𝟮𝟬𝟯𝟮, specifically its thrust to mainstream Philippine military history and strengthen national identity by promoting greater appreciation for the sacrifices and contributions of Filipino veterans.

As PVAO's official mascot, Lolo Giting will serve as an ambassador for the agency's public information and educational initiatives. He will be featured in youth and children outreach programs, government service caravans, public awareness campaigns, and other engagements that promote patriotism, respect for veterans, and civic responsibility.

Through Lolo Giting, PVAO continues to explore innovative ways of preserving veterans' legacy while reinforcing its commitment to its core values of 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗺, 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗺, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆, ensuring that the stories of courage and sacrifice of Filipino veterans remain relevant and inspiring for generations to come.

Please be advised that the PVAO Pension for the month of July 2026 will be credited on the following dates:

AFPSLAI | July 9, 2026 (Thursday)
AMWSLAI, CWSLAI | July 13, 2026 (Monday)
AUB, DBP, LBP, MAYBANK, PVB | July 16, 2026 (Thursday)

However, pensioners with blocked pension accounts due to non-updating of living status and other reasons may view their account balances, but no pension credit will be posted until their pension status has been updated and cleared.
