𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒: The Marine Environmental Protection Enforcement and Response Group – Northern Mindanao (MEPERG-NM) in partnership with the Marine Science Investigation Unit – Northern Mindanao (MSIU-NM) successfully hosted a 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗚𝗔𝗗) 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿r, 26 September 2025 at 𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹𝗮’𝘀 𝗛𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗹, 𝗧𝗮𝗴𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗻, 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗶𝘀 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹.

The activity focused on promoting greater awareness and responsiveness on issues of gender equality, the protection of women and children, and mental health—principles that embody the Philippine Coast Guard’s commitment to holistic service and community development.
Key discussions were led by our esteemed guest lecturers: CDR CHERIE-ANN J CANATUAN PCG, who shared valuable insights on Mental Health Awareness and Stress Management, highlighting the significance of resilience, self-care, and emotional well-being both at work and in daily life and Atty. Khristine Kay M. Lazarito-Calingin, who delivered a comprehensive lecture on Gender Sensitivity and the Laws Protecting Women and Children, emphasizing the crucial role of law enforcement and advocacy in ensuring inclusivity and safeguarding rights.
This seminar provided personnel with essential knowledge and practical strategies to create a more supportive workplace, advance gender equality, and protect vulnerable Coastguardians in society.

With these efforts, we continue to strengthen a more inclusive, empowered, and service-driven Coast Guard community.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: Marine Environmental Protection and Enforcement Response Group Northern Mindanao together with Department of Environment and Natural Resources 10 (𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐑 𝟏𝟎) and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources 10 (𝐁𝐅𝐀𝐑 𝟏𝟎) with the participation of Fisherfolks of Brgy Bugo, Brgy Officials, TESDA-COBSAT, BUGO Academe, Brgy Tanod, and BDRRMC successfully conducted the 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫 at Bugo Session Hall, Brgy. Bugo, Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental.

This seminar aims to raise awareness and knowledge about the care and recovery of injured, sick, orphaned, or displaced wild animals, promoting best practices in rehabilitation to ensure high standards of animal welfare. It seeks to educate participants on proper rescue techniques, foster community engagement and partnerships with local organizations and agencies, and encourage environmental stewardship. The seminar also emphasizes habitat restoration and the importance of releasing rehabilitated animals back into their natural habitats, ultimately contributing to biodiversity preservation and healthy ecosystems while empowering communities to actively participate in wildlife conservation and rehabilitation efforts.

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒: Marine Protection Environmental Enforcement and Response Group Northern Mindanao thru MEP ERU Misamis Occidental, together with CGS Misamis Occidental and multiple partners, conducted a 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧-𝐔𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐜𝐮𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐫𝐨 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 at Malaubang Coastal Road, Brgy. Baybay Triunfo, Ozamiz City. In celebration of the 𝟏𝟐𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐂𝐆 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐚𝐬𝐤 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐭 𝐘𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐭 (𝐓𝐅𝐈𝐘𝐃).

The team collected about 170 sacks (3,400 kg) of waste along a 200-meter shoreline. All collected debris was properly sorted and handed over to SWEMO Ozamiz for responsible disposal.

MEP ERG Northern Mindanao through MEP ERU Lanao del Norte, MEP ERU Misamis Occidental, MEP ERU Misamis Oriental and Coast Guard Stations conducted simultaneous Mangrove and Tree/Growing Activity.

The activity is part of 124th PCG Founding Anniversary Celebration and Task Force Ingat Yamang Dagat which aim to promote environmental awareness, encourage community participation, and highlight the vital role of preserving coastal and marine ecosystems in safeguarding maritime resources and it was actively participated in by stakeholders from Barangay Officials, LGU's, Academe and other government and non-government agencies

Through this effort, MEP ERG NM reaffirms its steadfast commitment to environmental protection, climate resilience, and the sustainable management of marine resources. The activity also served as a meaningful platform to encourage and empower coastal communities to take an active role in preserving their coastal resource and environment, ensuring that future generations can continue to benefit from healthy and thriving marine ecosystem.

𝐂𝐎𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐋 𝐂𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐍-𝐔𝐏 𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐈𝐓𝐘

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: The Marine Environmental Protection Enforcement and Response Unit (MEPERU) Lanao del Norte, in coordination with Coast Guard Station Lanao del Norte and Coast Guard Sub-Station Iligan, actively participated in a 𝐜𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧-𝐮𝐩 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 along the shoreline of Barangay Dalipuga, Iligan City.

The initiative was conducted in partnership with local barangay officials, covering approximately 200 meters of coastline. During the operation, the team successfully collected 18 sacks of assorted waste materials, estimated to weigh around 120 kilograms.

This collaborative effort underscores the commitment of both maritime authorities and local communities to preserving marine ecosystems and promoting environmental sustainability.

Re-launching of Task Force Ingat Yamang Dagat in the Municipality of Jimenez, Misamis Occidental

The Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao in partnership with the Municipality of Jimenez, Misamis Occidental, with relevant stakeholders proudly announces the re-launching of Task Force Ingat Yamang Dagat on August 4 and 5, 2025. This renewed initiative underscores a strengthened commitment of the LGU and stakeholders in the protection of our marine biodiversity in the local waters of Jimenez.

Task Force Ingat Yamang Dagat embodies a community-rooted shift in marine governance, emphasizing cooperation over isolated enforcement to safeguard the lifeblood of local economies and ecosystems. The Municipality of Jimenez calls on all citizens, stakeholders, and partners to support and participate actively in this critical environmental stewardship initiative.

The event was honored by the presence of HON. JOSELITO S. CHIONG, Municipal Mayor of Jimenez; COMMO DENNIS REM C LABAY PCG, Commander of Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao; and LT KRISTEL JADE A RAMILLANO PCG, Commander of the Marine Environmental Protection Enforcement Response Group–Northern Mindanao. Supported and attended by various stakeholders from PDRRMO Misamis Occidental, MDRRMO & Bantay Dagat Jimenez, PETRON Corporation Jimenez Terminal, CHEVRON Jimenez, Consolidated Coconut Corporation Plaridel, COCO Harvest Incorporation, Third Millenium Oil Mills Inc, Port Management Office-Ozamiz, 1002nd Auxiliary Squadron, Palilan Depot Corp, USTP Panaon and MSU IIT.

Over the course of two days, the Oil Spill Response and Awareness Seminar (OSRAS) and a Marine Pollution Exercise were conducted. The seminar aimed to educate participants on the risks associated with oil spills, promote effective prevention and response strategies, and strengthen preparedness to protect the environment, marine ecosystems, and coastal communities. It also emphasized the importance of coordinated action and community engagement in minimizing the harmful effects of oil spills. Additionally, the conduct of MARPOLEX further enhanced the readiness and interoperability of maritime agencies and stakeholders in effectively responding to marine pollution incidents, especially oil spills.
