Struggling to remember Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress Classification? Here are some quick tips to help you study smarter:

1. Break it into chunks
Study one section of the Dewey Decimal System per day (e.g., 000–099 today, 100–199 tomorrow). This makes memorization easier.

2. Use mnemonic devices
Example:
“Cats Sometimes Act Nutty Trying Hard So Librarians Laugh”
= Class 000s (Computer Science), Social Sciences, Arts, Natural Sciences, etc.

3. Practice with real examples
Go to an online catalog like WorldCat or your school library and look up books—observe their call numbers and practice classifying them.

4. Flashcards work wonders
Create flashcards for key categories and subclasses. Use apps like Anki or Quizlet for spaced repetition.

5. Join or form a study group
Discussing the systems with classmates can help reinforce your learning and highlight areas you may have overlooked.
Remember: Classification is the heart of organizing knowledge—mastering it sets a strong foundation for your future as an information professional!
