Philippine Active Geodetic Network - PAGeNet

Philippine Active Geodetic Network - PAGeNet Data from the network may be used in a wide array of applications such as surveying, mapping, navigation, crustal deformation studies, and meteorology.

The Philippine Active Geodetic Network (PageNET) is a network of permanently-installed, continuously operating geodetic reference stations that utilize signals from Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) to provide real-time, high-precision geographic position data to users via the Internet. The PageNET is an important component of NAMRIA's strategic plan to modernize the national geodetic sys

tem by year 2020. It provides a continuous link to the International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF) and is one of the Agency's contributions to the development of a sustainable global geodetic reference frame called for by the United Nations General Assembly through Resolution No. 69/266 of 26 February 2015 (A Global Geodetic Reference Frame for Sustainable Development).

PAGeNet Bulletin 2026-06-08

Subject: Displacements from the Mw 7.8 Offshore Sarangani Earthquake (08 Jun 2026)

The Mw 7.8 earthquake that hit Sarangani and surrounding provinces last 08 June 2025 (07:37:41 AM PhST) has induced a significant displacement in one of PAGeNet’s active geodetic stations in the area.

PGEN (General Santos City), located approximately 57 kms northeast (NE) from the earthquake’s epicenter, recorded a ~0.164 m 2D displacement northwest (NW) from its previous day’s position. The station also measured a ~0.055 m displacement in the Up component of the station position.

As for the other PAGeNet stations located in the vicinity of the epicenter, the stations’ Velocity and Displacement Engine (VADASE) streams recorded a spike around the time the earthquake struck. PMAI (Maitum, Sarangani), approximately 76 km away from the epicenter, recorded ~0.169 m 2D displacement while PTCG (Tacurong City), approximately 129 km away from the epicenter, recorded ~0.287 m 2D displacement.

NAMRIA continues to monitor the stations to provide updated information to all concerned.
