EARLIER TODAY: The Chief Nurse of this sub-unit, CG ENS MAGLINTE NC along with OIC, CGMEDC BT, CG LTSG MACACHOR and Assistant OIC, MEDC BT, CG ENS DINAO paid courtesy visit at Taguig City Health Office, Brgy. Tuktukan, Taguig City to lay out the groundwork on the implementation of their shared program on medical and nursing service delivery.

Following the warm reception accorded by the CHO Admin staff to the visitors, the former enthusiastically sought the purpose of the visit which is in line with the latter’s intention to carry out medical services and programs including operation tuli among others that will benefit not only within-AOR-PCG personnel and their dependents but also the adjacent community of CG Base Taguig.

Conclusively, the Taguig CHO representative conveyed their earnest support on the intitiative through CHO-addressed written request stipulating the needed resources which they could extend to equip and assist the success of the noble endeavour.

ICYMI: In congruence with our shared commitment to deliver top-tier medical and nursing services, this unit along with CGMED Clinic BT regularly holds equipment usage proficiency lectures to revivify the troops knowledge and capability in the proper operation of various medical equipments available in the clinic. So much so, this activity shall reverse the diminishing competency caused by prolonged non-practice.

CG ASN Teo of CGNS Base Taguig and CG SN1 Artates of CGMEDC Base Taguig facilitated the lecture who discussed the proper usage of Suction Machine and Nebulizer, respectively. Moreover, they injected key considerations which are morally and legally indespensable across all patient interventions including verification of doctor’s order, upholding patient consent and comfort, maintenance of aseptic technique, proper documentation, and outcome evaluation.

The successful activity is deemed imperative as it sustains and reinforces our troops capability to spontaneously deliver competent health services, whenever and wherever it is needed.

A SIMPLE YET A SINCERE ACTION OF HEALTHCARE EXTENSION.

LOOK: In accordance with our concerted endeavor of delivering comprehensive medical and nursing services to PCG personnel within our shared area of responsibility, this unit together with CGMED Clinic Base Taguig, successfully facilitated a tetanus toxoid vaccination to CGBT personnel on 24 October 2022.

The low-key jabbing activity was intended to highlight as one of the series of pre-anniversary activities across Coast Guard Nursing Service Sub-Units to commemorate its 5th year of dedicated service since its foundation. Moreover, the activity conforms to the clinic’s health promotion and disease prevention programs as it bolsters our troops immunity from acquiring tetanus thru ADL or work-related injuries

The success of the activity was made plausible through the clinic’s provision of tetanus toxoid vaccines which were safely administered by the collective hands of CGNS BT and CGMEDC BT personnel; thereby adding 19 robust coastguard personnel who are more protected from tetanus.

DELIGENCE FOR ENVIRONMENTAL CAUSE

LOOK: Earlier today, an environmental activity at Magsaysay Creek, New Lower Bicutan, Taguig City was successfully carried out through the collective effort of Coast Guard Base Taguig Tenant Units along with Local Government Unit of Taguig City.

The interagency clean-up drive purports to promote environmental proliferation thru eradication of ecological hazard including garbages and other pollutants.

CGNS Base Taguig and CGMEDC Base Taguig extended hands to aid on the success of the said ecological cause.

LOOK: In collaboration with MEDC-BT, this unit took part as lecturer during the 2-day BLS and STANDARD FIRST AID TRAINING to the personnel of Coastguard Veterinary Service at CGK9 Development Center, Coastguard Base Taguig, Taguig City on 22-23 September 2022.

The said training is archly relevant in the performance of our CoastGuard functions especially in the field of Maritime Search and Rescue. As PCG is considered as first responders not only on maritime accidents but also on all other calamities, it is vital that our personnel is equipped indispensable knowledge and skills in responding to various medical emergencies particularly in the administration of BLS and apposite first aid. So much so, rescuers’ sound judgement and skillful management are critically lifesaving on unpredictable rescue situations when casualties could be in life-threatening conditions.

Ultimately, the collaborative initiative produced 10 more skillful and competent personnel to add up on the highly capable, disaster-responsive ranks of the Philippine Coastguard.
