Kilusan para sa Pambansang Demokrasya (KPD)

Despite its feral mall culture and the looming skylines of crystal cities like Makati, the Philippines has never been allowed to develop and the mode of production is mainly based on land. Founded in 1998, Kilusan para sa Pambansang Demokrasya (KPD) or the Movement for National Democracy is a nationwide, multi-sectoral alliance of indigenous people, for

mal and informal workers, women, peasants, urban poor, teachers and students with a clear emphasis on grassroots organizing. We work to advance our rights and restore genuine sovereignty for the Philippines through the comprehensive transformation of our society. Our nationalist thread does not mean exclusionary chauvinism but rather the true liberation of our people from foreign domination. For KPD, “national democracy” means self-determination, full control over our natural wealth, economy and identities. We serve as a watchdog against government corruption and irregularities and engage with society as to what would be a better road to true development for all Filipinos.

Tutulan ang Malawakang Pagmimina sa Nueva Vizcaya!

JUST IN: Nueva Vizcaya anti-mining leader Florentino Daynos II was arrested, Monday, on a grave coercion charge, while another anti-mining activist and two lawyers are facing separate cyberlibel complaints.

According to Ellice Balgos, one of the lawyers for the Dupax del Norte Environmental Defenders, Daynos was arrested at a checkpoint in Dupax del Norte and did not receive a subpoena before his arrest.

Meanwhile, the cyberlibel complaint against Kasibu resident and anti-mining activist Lei Jin Dugay was filed by North Luzon Mineral Resources Corporation, which is conducting a mine exploration project in the town. Similar complaints were also filed against lawyers Fidel Santos and Edgardo Balgos, who, along with Daynos, have supported a community barricade opposing the project.
