STATEMENT OF THE SOUTHERN POLICE DISTRICT
On the Shooting Incident in Barangay Poblacion, Makati City
The Southern Police District (SPD) confirms that a shooting incident occurred at approximately 6:46 PM on August 3, 2026, along Makati Avenue corner Durban Street, Barangay Poblacion, Makati City.
The incident resulted in two victims, who were later established to be mother and daughter. The 26 year old female sustained gunshot wounds and is currently confined in a private hospital, while the 63 year old was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
Based on the initial investigation, the victims were shot by an unidentified male suspect described as wearing a white shirt, maong shorts, and white shoes. The suspect immediately fled the area on foot after the incident.
Upon receiving the report, personnel of the Makati City Police Station under the leadership of PCOL PEDRO A ALAGANO JR, immediately responded to the scene, secured the area, and launched a dragnet operation in coordination with neighboring police units. Simultaneously, investigators initiated an extensive CCTV backtracking and forward tracking operation to establish the movements of the suspect before and after the incident.
To ensure the swift resolution of the case, the Southern Police District has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) that will exclusively focus on the investigation, evidence gathering, intelligence coordination, and manhunt operations. The SIT is working closely with all concerned units to maximize investigative efforts and expedite the identification and arrest of the suspect.
At present, the identity of the suspect, the motive behind the attack, and other circumstances surrounding the incident remain under thorough investigation. The Southern Police District assures the public that all available investigative resources are being utilized to identify, locate, and bring the perpetrator before the law at the soonest possible time.
The SPD likewise appeals to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or possesses information, CCTV footage, dashcam recordings, or any other evidence that may assist the investigation to immediately coordinate with the Makati City Police Station or the assigned Investigator on Case. All information received will be treated with utmost confidentiality.
The Southern Police District, headed by District Director, PBGEN GLENN OLIVER C CINCO, extends its deepest sympathies to the family of the victims and assures them that every effort is being undertaken to bring the person responsible before the law. We likewise urge the public to refrain from spreading unverified information or speculation and to rely only on official updates from the Philippine National Police as the investigation progresses.
