🌿 52nd National Nutrition Month Celebration 2026 | Kick-Off Activity 🌿
The Nutrition and Dietetics Section, in partnership with the Holistic Advocacy Committee, successfully launched the 52nd National Nutrition Month Celebration on July 6, 2026, at the Department of Health – Treatment and Rehabilitation Center Bicutan, in line with this year's National Nutrition Month sub-theme:
💚 "Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!"
The celebration officially opened with an inspiring message from Dr. Alfonso A. Villaroman, Medical Center Chief II, highlighting the importance of proper nutrition, healthy lifestyles, and environmental stewardship.
The morning program featured the Weight Management and Sustainable Healthy Living Seminar, where Ms. Ruchel Gagarin Oasan, RND, MPH, shared practical and evidence-based strategies for achieving a healthier lifestyle through balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, and sustainable habits.
A major highlight of the event was the launch of Besties for Wellness: Workplace Health Challenge, a six-month wellness initiative of the Nutrition and Dietetics Section. Through this program, the NDS proudly serves as everyone's "Besties for Wellness," providing nutrition guidance, wellness activities, counseling, and continuous support to help DOH-TRC Bicutan staff build healthier lifestyles.
Participants also signed the Nutrition Commitment Wall, symbolizing their pledge to promote healthy living within the workplace and the community.
The celebration was further enriched by interactive booths from Ensure, the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI), and Kitchen City, which showcased nutrition, wellness, urban gardening, and healthy food initiatives that complemented this year's Nutrition Month celebration.
The morning program concluded with the closing remarks of Dr. Manuel C. Panopio, Chief Health Program Officer, who encouraged everyone to continue practicing healthy habits and environmental responsibility beyond Nutrition Month.
In the afternoon, participants attended the Introduction to Urban Gardening Seminar, facilitated by Ms. Forester Michelle Gonzales from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). She emphasized the role of urban gardening in promoting food security, environmental conservation, and sustainable living. The seminar also officially launched the "Tanim Kalikasan, Aani ng Kalusugan" Gardening Contest, while the DENR generously distributed vegetable seedlings to encourage participants to start their own gardens and apply what they learned.
The celebration continues with more exciting activities throughout the month. On July 13, 2026, the Youth Group and Residential Inpatients will participate in the "Nutrisyon at Kalikasan" Art Contest, showcasing the connection between nutrition and environmental conservation through creative artworks.
The celebration will culminate on July 29, 2026, with the Fruit and Veggie Dance Parade and the awarding of winners of the "Nutrisyon at Kalikasan" Art Contest and the "Tanim Kalikasan, Aani ng Kalusugan" Gardening Contest.
Anchored on this year's overarching theme, "Sa PPAN: Sama-sama sa Nutrisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat!", the Nutrition and Dietetics Section remains committed to promoting proper nutrition, healthy lifestyles, environmental responsibility, and holistic wellness among the staff, patients, and the entire DOH-TRC Bicutan community.
Together, let us nourish our bodies, care for our environment, and build a healthier, greener, and more sustainable future for all. As your Nutrition and Dietetics Section, we are proud to be your Besties for Wellness! 🌱💚
