JOINT WARRANT OPERATION IN QUEZON CITY ENDS MANHUNT FOR TOP 10 BICOL REGION MOST WANTED PERSON

Relentless law enforcement efforts resulted in the successful apprehension of a Top 10 Regional Most Wanted Person in the Bicol Region during a joint police operation in Quezon City on August 5, 2026.

The fugitive, who faces serious charges for violating Republic Act No. 10883 (The New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016), was cornered and arrested at approximately 5:00 PM along Road 3 corner Road 9, Barangay Project 6, Quezon City.

The successful operation was jointly executed by personnel from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Police Station 15 and the Magarao Municipal Police Station (operating under the Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office). The arrest was carried out through the implementation of an outstanding warrant carrying no recommended bail.

A thorough police background check and verification revealed that the accused possesses an extensive criminal history, with previous records involving illegal gambling, acts of lasciviousness, qualified theft, and violations of Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

PMGEN Anthony A Aberin lauded the seamless coordination and interoperability between the participating police units, emphasizing that sustained inter-unit collaboration remains vital in tracking down fugitives attempting to evade the long arm of the law.

“Our message to wanted persons is straightforward: surrender peacefully or expect the police to find you. We will continue working closely with other police units to ensure that outstanding warrants are served and justice is carried out without delay,” PMGEN Aberin stated.

The arrested individual is currently under the custody of QCPD Police Station 15, pending formal commitment to the appropriate custodial facility and subsequent legal disposition as directed by the issuing court. # # #

STREET-LEVEL VIGILANCE NETS THREE IN SEPARATE QUEZON CITY PROPERTY CRIMES; PLDT CABLES, AUTO PARTS RECOVERED

Rapid community vigilance and swift police response resulted in the apprehension of three suspects in separate property crime incidents across Quezon City, authorities announced Wednesday. The operations led to the recovery of approximately 18.6 meters of PLDT aerial copper cable and vehicle parts valued at ₱40,000.

At around 3:00 AM on August 5, 2026, Barangay Public Safety Officers on routine patrol along East Avenue in Barangay Central spotted a barefoot man hauling several cable wires in front of the Philippine Heart Center.

Upon noticing the approaching patrol, the suspect fled on foot, abandoning the loot. Following a brief pursuit, barangay officers successfully apprehended the 22-year-old suspect, recovering multiple cut pieces of aerial copper cable and a hacksaw.

Verification with PLDT technical personnel confirmed that the confiscated items were company-owned aerial copper cables spanning approximately 18.6 meters. The exact monetary value of the recovered lines remains under technical assessment. The suspect was subsequently transferred to the Kamuning Police Station 10 to face inquest proceedings for theft and an alleged violation of Republic Act 10515 (Anti-Cable Television and Cable Internet Transmission Theft Act.

In a separate operation on August 4, two laborers were arrested following the theft of vehicle components from a storage facility along Longanese Street, St. Charbel 1, Barangay Tandang Sora.

The complainant discovered the break-in at approximately 11:00 PM after spotting one of the suspects exiting the property with a sack loaded onto a wooden cart. Having previously suffered recurring losses from the premises, the vigilant complainant discreetly tracked the suspect to a nearby junk shop while simultaneously alerting local authorities.

Responding police personnel apprehended the first suspect on-site, recovering a dismantled bumper support valued at ₱30,000 and a catalytic exhaust valued at ₱10,000. Subsequent investigation traced the operation to a second suspect, identified as the mastermind who allegedly instructed the first individual to carry out the theft.

Both suspects were taken into custody and will undergo inquest proceedings for robbery before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.

Police records checks revealed that the suspect in the cable theft incident has no prior warrants or criminal history. In the second case, one of the suspects carries previous record entries involving Presidential Decree 1602 (Illegal Gambling), while the accomplice yielded no prior record.

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Regional Director PMGEN Anthony A Aberin lauded the coordinated efforts of local security and law enforcement, emphasizing that these interventions disrupt illicit resale networks.

“Those who steal communication cables, vehicle components, or any property that does not belong to them must understand that these acts affect not only individual owners but also public services and community safety. Our personnel, together with barangay authorities and vigilant citizens, will continue to pursue offenders, recover stolen property, and bring those responsible before the law,” PMGEN Aberin stated.

PNP RECORDS 36.12% DROP IN FOCUS CRIMES IN JULY 2026

The Philippine National Police (PNP) recorded a 36.12% decrease in focus crimes nationwide for the period of July 1 to 31, 2026, compared with the same period last year, reflecting sustained efforts to strengthen public safety and maintain peace and order across the country.

Based on the latest crime statistics, focus crimes declined from 3,458 incidents in July 2025 to 2,209 incidents this year, or 1,249 fewer cases. Among the eight focus crimes, the biggest reductions were recorded in r**e, which dropped by 56.93%; carnapping of motor vehicles, down by 46.15%; carnapping of motorcycles, down by 42.59%; physical injury, down by 40.40%; robbery, down by 34.34%; theft, down by 31.28%; homicide, down by 5.26%; and murder, down by 4.61%.

The PNP said the continuing decline reflects the collective efforts of police units nationwide, working closely with communities and partner agencies to prevent crime and respond more effectively to public safety concerns. The accomplishment also supports the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly under the Enhanced Managing Police Operations pillar, while contributing to the peace and development priorities of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief of the PNP, commended police personnel across the country for their commitment while reminding them that the work does not end with positive statistics.

"Our responsibility goes beyond reducing crime statistics. We are committed to delivering responsive policing, preventing crimes before they happen, and making our communities safer through consistent and professional police service."

COPS RESCUE ABUSED SIBLINGS FROM THEIR OWN FATHER; NCRPO INTENSIFIES CHILD‑PROTECTION OPERATIONS

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) reaffirmed its commitment to protect minors through strong law enforcement measures and specialized procedures against all forms of child abuse, following the rescue of two young siblings allegedly abused by their own biological father in Barangay Napindan, Taguig City on August 3, 2026.

Personnel of the Taguig City Police Station’s Women and Children Protection Desk, acting on a directive dated June 25, 2026, led the coordinated rescue operation at around 3:30 PM together with the Barangay Napindan VAWC Desk and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).

Initial investigation revealed that the 14‑year‑old girl had allegedly been subjected to repeated sexual abuse beginning June 2026, while her 12‑year‑old brother had allegedly suffered physical abuse from the same suspect. The operation concluded at approximately 7:34 PM, ensuring the safe recovery of both minors.

The siblings were immediately turned over to the CSWDO for protective custody, psychosocial assessment, and appropriate intervention. The case is undergoing further investigation for the filing of charges before the Office of the City Prosecutor.

NCRPO Regional Director PMGEN Anthony A Aberin underscored the organization’s unwavering commitment to child protection.

VIGILANT GUARD FOILS THEFT; NCRPO UNCOVERS FIVE PRIOR LAW‑VIOLATION RECORDS OF SUSPECT

A security guard’s vigilance and the recovery of a ₱4,000 motorcycle helmet now propel a theft complaint being pursued by the National Capital Region Police Office against a 27‑year‑old man apprehended at a commercial building in Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City, on the evening of August 3, 2026.

Initial investigation revealed that the suspect entered the parking area through its exit point aboard a gray Honda Click motorcycle while wearing a sky blue long‑sleeve uniform. The on‑duty guard followed him and reportedly witnessed the suspect take a white Evo full‑face helmet from another parked motorcycle. The suspect allegedly placed the helmet inside the motorcycle’s top box and was preparing to leave when the guard intercepted him. The helmet, valued at ₱4,000, was recovered from his possession.

The establishment later located the owner, who confirmed that the recovered helmet belonged to him. The gray motorcycle and the uniform worn by the suspect were likewise documented as articles involved in the incident.

A records verification conducted by police personnel showed five prior entries under the suspect’s name: two violations of Presidential Decree No. 1602 for illegal gambling dated December 29, 2023 and August 18, 2024, and three violations of Republic Act No. 10883, the New Anti‑Carnapping Act of 2016, dated April 13, May 8, and June 11, 2026. The report did not indicate the disposition of these previous records.

The suspect is now facing a complaint for Theft under Article 308 of the Revised Penal Code. The case will be referred to the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office for inquest.

WANTED SUSPECT SERVED THEFT WARRANT; DATING‑APP MODUS UNDER DEEPER PROBE

A routine records verification by Barbosa Police Station led to the service of an outstanding warrant of arrest against a 27‑year‑old call center agent, who was already detained for a separate case, at the station’s custodial facility in Quiapo, Manila at around 11:30 AM on August 3, 2026.

The suspect—previously featured in a news program for a dating‑app theft incident—was confirmed to be an Other Wanted Person facing a theft charge under Article 308 of the Revised Penal Code. The warrant was issued by a Makati City court on December 6, 2024, with bail set at ₱10,000.

Police records further revealed that on October 27, 2024, the same individual was linked to a theft complaint involving an iPhone 11. The complainant reported meeting him through a dating application and later agreeing to meet in Bonifacio Global City. According to the incident report, the suspect offered to drive her home and borrowed her phone “for navigation.” Upon reaching Ermita, Manila, he allegedly fled with the device.

Authorities are now validating information that other victims may have been targeted through a similar modus, in which the suspect allegedly befriended individuals online, gained their trust, and then took their personal belongings. Investigators are reviewing additional complaints and cross‑matching reports to determine the full extent of his activities.

Following the service of the warrant, the suspect was informed of the charge and apprised of his constitutional rights in Tagalog. He remains under police custody while the necessary documents are being prepared for the return of the warrant to the issuing court.

NCRPO Regional Director PMGEN Anthony A Aberin emphasized the importance of thorough verification and proactive investigation in preventing repeat offenders from evading accountability.

“Individuals who may have been victimized through the same scheme should come forward and coordinate with the police. Every complaint and supporting evidence will be properly documented to ensure that all applicable charges are pursued before the courts,” PMGEN Aberin said.

“The NCRPO will continue to pursue individuals who exploit trust and take advantage of others, whether online or in person. I urge anyone who may have been victimized through similar schemes to coordinate with the police.
