URGENT SEISMIC UPDATE
Our team at Team Alindog (PULSE) is closely monitoring the ongoing seismic activity off the coast of Davao Occidental. At 4:19 PM today, July 19, 2026, a Magnitude 5 earthquake occurred approximately 40 kilometers south of Balut Island, Sarangani, at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers.
According to PHIVOLCS, this event is an aftershock of the major June 2026 Mw7.8 Offshore Sarangani and Mw6.5 Offshore Davao Occidental earthquakes. This tremor is part of an active sequence today, which includes earlier earthquakes of Magnitude 5.5, Magnitude 5.6, and Magnitude 6.3 in the same area near the Cotabato Trench. While the earthquake was felt at Intensity II and instrumentally recorded at Intensity III in General Santos City, no damage is expected. However, more aftershocks are anticipated. We currently have no active weather data for the area, but we continue to monitor the region for any developments.
